Shown in the sheilding thread in the FAQ, you can do blend/vol/tone; is there any way to do that with the series/parallel?

Even with the help of schematics, i'm still struggling a little bit iin understanding this all...thanks.

it's a 3PDT switch (triple pole, double throw). Most commonly used switches are DPDT (double pole, double throw). You can get volume pots with dpdt attached, but I haven't seen any volume pots with 3pDT attached. If you read Lyle's explanation underneath the diagram you'll see why he used one.
