So, over the weekend I took my girlfriend on an overnight camping trip. We went up to this spot in Azusa Canyon, a place we've camped at a few times before.

We got to the site to set up our tent and I was looking around when I found a <3 on the wall with our initials in it that I had drawn last summer. We were having a great time partaking in some mildly illegal behavior and just spending time together.

Later on that night we were laying together and I was thinking to myself, that life really couldnt be any better (well maybe it could, but it certainly hasnt ever been before). For some reason the thought popped into my mind and I felt like the last year and a half (just about) has been driving us both to the point. It was totally unplanned and I asked her to marry me. Her response was: of course I'll marry you. Our getaway ended the next afternoon after a few beers, and outdoor nude photoshoot, and some really hot outdoor sex.

We've talked about marriage before, like when we first started dating and we both agreed it wasnt something either of us ever wanted to do. And then later as we had been together longer and it was obvious that neither of us felt that way any longer. And even more recently when we decided that if we ever got married we wouldnt want a traditional wedding.

She knows that I was previously married before we started dating, and that I didnt officially end my marriage to my ex until last November. I made it clear to her that I never asked my ex to marry me, that it was her who had put pressure on me that ultimately led to a bad decision. I told her she was the only one I wanted to be with and that she was the only girl whose hand I ever truly asked for.

We agreed not to set a date yet, that it'll come in time and since we have the rest of our lives together there is no rush. She hasnt told her parents yet, as theyre a bit more formal, and she would rather have a ring before telling them so. I know her mother has asked when we're going to tie the knot, and her family likes me very much, as does my family like her. I hope to have a proper ring for her by next fall, and I plan on speaking to her father before making a more formal proposal.

All that said, I am truly convinced that Ive found the girl of my dreams. Ive never been more in love, and absolutely ecstatic that she accepted my proposal.

All in all, this is just a thread to brag about the fact that my [del]gf[/del] fiance' is cool enough to pose naked outdoors for our enjoyment. There are pics, but they won't be seeing the likes of the internet anytime soon.

So you managed to get this done without a ring?

Oh and...

:hyper: Congratulations to both of you. I wish you the most incredible life together. May you always be deeply in love with each other. This sounds corny, but communication is and always will be important. I pray the the two of you are indeed soulmates, and your relationship lasts a lifetime. Yes, we females get all mushy and corny about these things, but I truly feel (and I don't know either of you) that you two have something special. Cherish each other.

Congrats, Matticus!!!!! :hyper: Based on what you've posted on TB, I had a feeling this brick would hit you in the head eventually. You had a test-wife, now go do it for real!

First off, you regularly camp in Azusa Canyon?!?!? There are far more aesthetic places to camp! Even in the San Gabriel Mountains.

Second, congrats!

After last year's huge fire, a lot of the good places are closed. Azusa Canyon isn't bad at all if you get up in there far enough.

Uh huh. Did you do the sad puppy dog eyes while telling that part of the story?

"Dis girl made me mawwy her and I was so ascared I jus said yes cuz I din't know what else to do. I was so ascared".

Nah, she knows about my reasons for what happened in the past. I dont blame my ex for me making bad decision, but I do for the emotional roller coaster I was put through. I should have kept my head together better, but still I have no regrets, as if I hadnt gone through what I did I may not have ever been in the position to enter into my current relationship. The point of me telling her that I never asked my ex to marry me was just that.

Congrats man. Remember what has built your relationship to where it is now and keep doing that. Constantly work on improving your communication and your relationship and you will be together for a long time. Yes, I realize that I am 22 and saying this, but it has worked for 30 years for my parents and their relationship has never been stronger.
