So, I'm looking for a tone similar to this

I don't have much of a budget, so I was looking at the Marshall Mosfet or the Peavey 400 Series amp heads. I'm not very well versed in guitar gear, so unfortunately, I'm poking around in the dark here. But, generally, the sound I want is something mid toned and punchy. A good example of what I'm looking for is in the video above (granted not the greatest quality).

Anyway, I just want to learn a little more from others about how to achieve this sound, through pedals, certain amps, certain techniques, just whatever will help.

OK if that is what you want, a lot of it is coming from the other guys. I'd turn up the distortion knob and go from there.

That's what I thought, too. although it may be a mild distortion on the actual bass, I don't think that's the bass rather than the recording itself. If you hear the drum in the beginning, they're mega distorted.
