So it seems Warmoth has gotten the same price gouging as StewMac

Wanted to order a $2 neck plate pad for a J bass I'm building and their shipping/handling was over $9. If I didn't have so much invested in a brand new paint I'd have said "screw it". $11+ for a $2 part...sad because they are almost in the backyard of where I grew up. Would have been nice to learn they are out to take care of folks.

Should they not charge you what it costs them to ship the item?

I am talking about a soft plastic pad the size of the neck plate. I know that this part would take next to no storage space and would easily fit into a normal mailing envelope. After taking my order, the shipping address is in their system and the labor involved to address a shipping envelope would be limited to clicking 'Print', sticking said label on an envelope and affixing it to the envelope...so I don't personally feel there is that much labor necessary. Finally, shipping? I live 2 hours away. This is a piece of rubber. I don't live in Bangladesh.

My point exactly, and one I intend to check when I receive the part. I'm going to see how much it would cost ME to ship the neck plate pad to THEIR address. I'll bet it won't cost my $9.76...

(Yes, I paid the exorbitant cost, because I hope to protect my new finish on my Jazz bass. The point of the post was to simply point out a company's high cost to other bass players. Do any of you know of other sources? Allparts, Reverb, Angela etc all struck out.)

I have a brother who lives less than two miles from Warmoth facility. They do not sell direct to customers, or I would have had my brother buy the part and drop it in the mail for me. (I think I'd have had him put FIVE forever stamps to ensure postage.) I know that much about their logistics.

Charging almost $10 for delivering a tiny piece of rubber. As I said, I'll get some shipping costs from USPS, FedEx, and UPS to see how much it would cost ME to ship an envelope with said rubber pad. I get that companies will charge whatever the economy will support. I just didn't know Warmoth was a company that charged such high shipping and handling fees. (For comparative purposes, my Jazz bass body was shipping from CA from my awesome guitar finisher this morning for a total of $51, including insurance.)
