I don't really care about the PS3, but I am semi-interested in the Wii, although if I got one I'd wait a few months for them to be readily in stock, the price to possibly go down a bit, and for any bugs to be worked out. More than that though I'm actually waiting for the PS2 to drop to $100 flat

This response is so disappointing! The Wii is seriously one of the most innovative designs I've ever even HEARD of, let alone seen implimented with my own hands.

I don't think it's that innovative - the Playstation has had lots of peripherals that you can interface with - like the guitar, Eyetoy, microphones etc.

Nothing new really - where are my virtual reality glasses and a computer that knows what I'm thinking!!??

I just got my Wii last night and can't get enough of it. I don't even have any games besides sports but even that is more fun than I've had playing video games in a long time. I'm 24 and, aside from playing my DS when I'm travelling, really haven't played any video games in years, but this thing is so new and so much FUN.

Also, we had a big get together last night and my (tiny) girlfriend beat the SNOT out of everyone there in boxing. I can see many a night ahead of us having people over, drinking beer, and boxing.

I just got my Wii last night too!

My girlfriend works next to the Nintendo world store in Rockefeller center, NYC so she stood on line for about 30 minutes before work yesterday morning and snagged one. (I guess she comes through for me when I need her too )

It's so much more fun than I originally thought it would be.
It sucks I have to wait months until Mario

The sports disk that comes with the unit is still a lot of fun, boxing and bowling kept me up until 4am last night.

I haven't been into video games in probably 10 years (the last system I had or played was N64)
I'm totally hyped up about this system and very happy I bought it. For the low price and entertainment this system offers, it gets a big thumbs up from me.

I'll probably be getting my Wii after Christmas. I told my family that my main Christmas request is a donation to the "Mike gets a Wii fund".

Sorry if I as too brief to be clear. I was also partially reacting to a thread that he just posted to, obviously without reading it first.

I play games myself, that wasn't the point.

My point is that he was whining about not getting a huge response to his thread, when more than one on the topic already existed. I was pointing out this is a bass forum, which it is, Off Topic or not. Whining that we are all somehow lacking for not caring about the newest video game fad struck me as more than a bit silly, especially since there was already a rather large thread on the subject.


As far as being an arse, point taken. I was fresh home from navigating a sea of drunken tools after the gig. My bad.

my brother was playing a tennis game and went for a big swing.

i guess there was a fan light right overhead...


my brother always finds ways to get injured. for instance, when he was a senior in high school, he broke his thumb early in the football season. it healed up before the end of the season, but broke it again during practice.

and, of course, there's now the wii injury to add to his (rather lengthy) list of wacky injuries.


as far as wii goes, i have yet to play it, myself.

OK now I need to start a thread that says BEST BUYS SUCKS. Got up at 4AM to go to the big BB sale, waited in a HUGE line only to find their web page was WRONG and they really DID NOT have any WIIs ! In desperation I bought one off ebay for, get this, $379 and I was happy to pay that. $379 for a $249 game. But, that was the only BIG thing my boy wanted and I HAVE to be a good Santa. Next year I'll be more prepared..... ya' right....

Granted, I don't have kids and maybe when I do have them I'll feel differently, but I just think that it's rediculous to spend an extra $130 on something just so your child can have it in time for Christmas. Instead I would try waiting a bit to see if I could snag one before then for the correct price or atleast tell my child that while they may not have it exactly for Christmas, the first chance you can get one that's available, you'll get it for them.

This situation makes me dread being a father. As a child, you never understand saving money or anything like that, you just expect the gifts. Nowadays, I hate spending money and I can't believe I wasted so much of my parents money as a child.... but yet, I know when I have a kid, I don't want him to be disappointed. I can't expect him to not get the presents he wants or to wait for them, although it'd be nice.

I admit -- my bad on not searching, but I didn't see the Wii thread and I take a look at TB at least once a day, so I figured I hadn't missed anything. As for my "whining," I was surprised at the lack of the response to the Wii, as everyone here has been raving like idiots about it, myself included. I don't care about my thread -- it wouldn't be the first thread by anybody on TB to go largely ignored. It's just that the many people on TB who game (and as this is the Off Topic forum, I figured that'd be a safe place to find 'em) seemed to have a lukewarm response to the release of the Wii, which was very strange to me.

That said, I did a quick search and found the thriving Wii thread not a page or two back. Thanks for the heads up.

I know when I have a kid, I don't want him to be disappointed.

Nobody does but disappointments are a point of life. I'd rather my child learn that you can't always get what you want, either at all, or atleast right away.
