Oh I did the Elvis thing for a few years, it worked great!
Always got over with the crowd, and yes, the ladies LOVED it.
Didn't do it full time, kinda like the OP, come out for 2nd set kinda thing, or just special occasions.
Side note, doing the Elvis actually got me some good gigs overseas.
first time I was in Amsterdam, there was a jam night in a hotel bar/lounge close to downtown.
I was by myself, having fun for a few days before the tour began.
decided to sit in on bass. couple songs, bluesy stuff, no big deal.
Singer guy decides he wants to take a break, asks if anyone else sings.
Nobody raised their hand, so I said yeah sure. I can do an Elvis thing.
They said go for it.
So, straightened myself up as best I could (sans jumpsuit)
and belted out some Blue Suede Shoes, Jailhouse Rock, Heartbreak Hotel.
Place was rockin. big time. people coming in off the street.
Hotel manager comes over and asks, "hey, you need a place to stay?"
I said sure!
wound up staying 3 nights for free, with food, for doing 2 - 20 min sets of Elvis a night.
easy stuff, all due to the King.
