Vetchking; Good to meet you.
While I was rather certain you were a person with an agenda (a reason to promote a brand other than Ampeg), I also know that makes you no different than most who post here. While you may be more 'in the know' about the nuts and bolts, you also have your subjective reason to be pro-this, less-pro-that.
I use Ampeg because I was able to get my hands on my rig at an amazing price many years ago. I wanted a rig that would be the last rig I ever needed to buy and found it. I knew Ampeg was a name that had a strong history and great reputation and the friends I had advising me assured me that this rig would definitely live up to what I needed - and then some. History has shown that they were very correct. To be completely honest, I didn't fully appreciate the value of my score until years later when I learned much more about amps and speaker cabinets in general. But that does not change the fact that my Ampeg is a ROCK - not just a rock (style) rig, but a dependable, powerful and great sounding setup.
I also cited that because my particular setup (SVT II Pro + 810e) is all tubes and reasonably powerful, it tends to be very 'rock' in nature and that I felt other forms of music that, in my opinion, may call for a more 'clean', some may call it 'colder' or even 'brittle' delivery, that my setup might not be the first choice for players of those styles.
Don't get me wrong, however. While that's been my experience and is still my opinion, I also know that with a little adjustment it's highly likely that it could satisfy that more cold and brittle contingent as well - I just don't have that experience to draw from since the bulk of the music I play leans toward the more aggressive, 'rock' thing.
I am reasonably confident that the SVT 810e coupled with other amplifiers - Other Ampeg models, Acoustic, Mark Bass, GK, et al. will deliver the goods no matter what style of music one pushed through it. Having never used other amplifiers through my 810 (aside from my tiny GK RB200), I cannot speak from personal experience about how they'd do, but I can speculate. My assumption is that any other Ampeg of comparable spec but solid-state or mixed tube/SS, might certainly hit all the high spots for those clamoring for that bright, brittle, uber-clean thing.
But again, since my love lies in the growl and grit of tunes that lust for that all tube drive flavor and because my SVT II Pro + 810e give that in spades, I feel like I have the best amp in the world for what I do, which, if you look at all the best advice given here at TB, is what one should strive for when filling out their arsenal - gear that gives them what they need.
