I have been using IEMs for years and never ever had any feedback. That was one of the main reasons for going to them, not having to worry about monitor feedback. I'm not saying it can't happen but as mentioned earlier unless you are trying to do it on the cheap you should have built in limiters.

I find it interesting that just over a month ago you posted on TB trying to figure out exactly how to hook up the two 810 cabs that, at that time (03/21/14), you didn't even have yet. So, you never whine about schlepping around the two cabs that you've had for a month? Congratulations. Curious, just how many shows have you had to carry those two 810 cabs to in this last month? And, more importantly, how exactly is it that you're running two 810 cabs off of a SVT 6 Pro given that the two cabs would produce a 2Ω load and the 6 Pro can only handle a minimum of 4Ω?

To completely dismiss IEM like that is at least ignorant. Providing that specific argumentation is laughable. IEM are unbeatable for certain applications. ROCK AND ROLL applications. Apparently you don't play big stages, apparently you don't sing and apparently you have never played a gig where stage volume has been an issue.

I've personally never thought about IEM due to costs and inconsistencies with sound guys (if there is one.) I don't think I would go that route just to avoid moving around gear, although I have heard that some pros don't bother touring with monster gear and just use IEMs. Because it is right in your ear, I guess I could see a problem with them possibly damaging your hearing if they aren't used correctly, but this is the first time I've heard of someone complaining about that.
I just stick to my rig and a pair of good ear plugs.

For the opposite perspective I've been exclusively on IEM for 3 years and would never go back. To add salt to the wound I also don't use an amp!

Sorry that your guitar player had a bad experience and I hope his hearing's ok but to dismiss the hundreds if not thousands of bands that successfully use IEM's because of one bad experience isn't fair. If you don't like them, cool you're free to do as you please. They work great for many.

Seriously? If someone has a bad back, or simply doesn't want to carry a huge rig they are lazy? Why would you need a big rig if you're just going to be DI'ed? Back pain has nothing to do with not working out. If your drummer has a disk problem that makes it difficult for him to turn to hit an extra floor tom, working out won't make it better, it can only make it worse. You questioning him about it only makes you look like an elitist jerk. The fact that you called someone else immature in this thread is funny.

OP is pretty new here tbh. I don't think he realizes this is the wrong forum for that kind of post. Most folks here are experienced or wise enough to at least partially protect their hearing.

Obviously you don't run meniacaly to the other side of the stage to rock out with the guitarist because if you did you would have another two over there to hear yourself properly.
A centrefill of 2 x 410's in front of the drummer would be common courtesy to the singer so he can feel the groove properly, not to mention the occasional vocal contribution by yourself in this position!
I only rock a 4 x 10 and am careful with it's volume onstage so i cannot claim to be rock'n'roll sadly :(
But i salute you sir!
