mackie DL1608, allen & heath qu16/24, soundcraft expression series, behringer X series...shall i go on...

not trying to be a pretentious dick...just pointing out that new consoles these days are able to handle the workload...at a fraction of the cost of all the outboard equipment...

My guitar player was wearing his in-ears and the sound guy messed up and caused major feedback
and now my guitarist is thinking of leaving the band. His hearing has taken a kick in the arse!
The thing is... he would give me crap, cause I wouldn't wear them and I was the only one to have a
set of monitors in front of me. Now... who's laughing and giving crap?? Well, I'm not that big of a jerk.
So, I feel for him. But you will NEVER get ME to wear those pieces of poo!
Besides, I play ROCK&ROLL and REAL rock&roll is about the music AND the show. The show also
incorporates a stage full of gear!! Without it... it just isn't Rock&Roll.
For those who are just too damn lazy to carry around their gear and whine and cry about it... I say
leave the music to the big boys and get the freak out of the business!!

about it. In fact, I am proud to do so!!

There are also those who never work out to keep their bodies in shape and then have no excuse. I am sure there is an exception to every rule. But this is rule for me and for most others... I have witnessed, there seems to be more laziness than anything.
A drummer I met said he got rid of one of his floor toms because it caused him some back pain when he turned to hit it. I asked him if he ever worked out and he said he didn't have the time.

If we don't take the time to take care of ourselves, we most likely won't be playing for long anyways.

I hate things in my ears.
So if i gigged, I guess I'd either have to adapt...
Or carry my own monitors or something like that.

I'd probably wind up buying high end IEMs that were shaped to my ears.
Or wear full headphones.

If a person responsible for running a system effes up, it's hardly the systems fault.
Unless it's a "looky, did it my self" sort of a band-aid job.
Regardless of the said system of course.

The person responsible for the unfortunate event is the person who hired the sound guy.
Or the person who used (assumably) poorly executed IEM system.
Or both.

I for one wouldn't be surprised if You guys didn't have your own sound person either.

Who forced You to do that?
Or are You assuming that the rest of us do not carry our own equipment and have someone else carry it?
We also usually share the PA schlepping, as well as help the others who have more gear than us to carry.

If someone is truly "All about the music" they would try their best to make IEMs work. The reduction in stage noise makes the sound engineers job way easier, making the mix better and the music more impact full. It's unfortunate your guitar player skipped the most important safety feature.

I can't believe I missed this earlier. So you are running BOTH of your 4ohm 810's on your 4 ohm minimum SVT 6 Pro? Somehow I doubt that.

So, he's bragging about hauling 2 810s, and he's actually using 1 810 worth of speakers.

Actually, you can run a pair of 4 ohm cabs at 8ohms with a series cable, so it is possible to do so.

I got the idea for the whole ampless custom pedalboard and IEM setup from a band in Vegas called Yellow Brick Road. They are one of the top casino bands there go check out some of their videos and tell me if they're not "pros" because they don't have a bunch of stacks behind them. I'll wait...

I hate them too but I have to use them because that's where we are now at my church. i tried the headphones thing a d it just didn't work right for me. I managed to get the WL to let me get a small something or othrr to use as a monitor so I got this nice Tech 21 Bass Power Wedge 60 to use as a monitor using by B3 as a preamp. Like my old friend Rosanne Rosannadanna used to say .... "It's always somethin .... Either ya gotta put dem little thingys in ur ear dere wit da wax and da grease and da hair and they keep slippin out and fallin allover your shoulder or down your shirt or over your back or get all tangled up in ur bass n evrything like that there....... Or ya gotta schlep around two big ol honkin 810 cabinets and then ya gotta go back to the front of the bar and out that teeny little front door and move alla dem tables and what not just to get the big stupid things past the bathroooms there ......"
