I have a bass that was made my Anton Krutz @ KC Strings here in Kansas City.

I think it's a 7/8 Gamba bass, it has a 42” scale and is 73" overall. It has a new Maple French Bridge with a Realist pick-up system installed under the new bridge (Anton did all of the work). It also has fairly new set of DeAdario strings ($135.00 a set!), a heavy-stand, a bow holster and a soft case (and of course a bow). I have fret markers on the neck currently and they are intonated (you can see them in the pics) I can remove them if you would prefer. I bought this about 6 months ago from a guy that is studying bass in Holland and couldn’t take it with him. Everything I know about this bass he told me. I usually play electric and thought I would try something new.

With the pick-up and the new strings I have about $1,600.00 dollars in it. I’m desperate for money right now and even though I love this bass it’s just not a priority.

Full disclosure: There is a scratch on the back that is not through the finish and two dings where you can see the wood on the right side ( you can see them in the pics).

I’m asking $900 and I consider reasonable offers ( I'd like to consider trades but I really need the $$) Since I don't have a fight case for it I would prefer not to ship it unless you Tbers know a safe cheap way to do it. I'll gladly deliver in the greater KC area or I'll meet you within a reasonable distance.

Walt, I just left a message for you to call me on your phone as I e-mailed you earlier. Good to see some more KC folk here on TB.

What series KC String bass is this? It couldn't possibly be a Anton Krutz Gamba Bass as it retails for over 20k.

If so though I would like to be first in line to take it off your hands.

I understand why that would be confusing. It's definatly NOT an Anton Krutz GAMABA model bass.

It IS a Gamba body style which means it doesn't have the pointy violin corners.

This is NOT a super high end carved bass, but I don't think it's KC series because those have pointy violin style bodies. This is a beginner bass for sure but it looks, plays and sounds pretty nice. I don't know the exact model or details but I do know that even if this is the lowest model listed on the KC strings website it's still less than 1/2 price.

Hope this helps.

This is an entry level student bass that KC Strings imported from Germany - and later from China - before they came up with a proprietary import model, which has become the new KC series with violin corners.

I owned one of these basses. It was one of their final German imports before going to the Chinese basses. They bring them in "finished," and then give them the attention to detail that makes KC Strings famous - reshaping the fingerboard, removing the neck finish (if you request it), and giving it the same hand carved bridge, tail wire, and endpin of their higher-end basses.

I cannot tell the country of origin from the pictures, as they all featured gamba corners and a similar finish.

Hope that helps!

Peace,
Jason
