Not normally a fan of muff variants or Patrick Hunter's videos but man this one sounds amazing. As I refine my fuzz tastes my main criteria is fast and edgy attack with no mush. So far my two favorite are the Heavy Axes by Barbarian and the Diabolik, but this one is a great compliment to those two. I'll pick one up as soon as I can swing it. Someone else posted about this in the fuzz forum, but I figured it needs its own thread.

I almost bought one but am concerned it might be a little too mushy for my taste as it is based on one of the more gainy muffs (Triangle?). If they made one based on the Green Russian I'd be all over it though.

Valid concern when it comes to muffs, however in the video he goes to great lengths to say how crisp and attacky it is.

True, and that is indeed a great quality. But for me, problem is the low end has always been too compressed in all the other muff variants I've tried. I'm very familiar with the Green Russian component values, and if the JEN Jumbo fuzz schematics found on the web are any indication, this one is very different.

I'll probably end up taking one for the team. There is something about the tone that I really am curious about. It's taking a lot of strength not to buy. I told myself no new pedals in 2021 until I figured out where the country was heading economically.

I LOVE me some Rams Head muff pedals, my favorite muff circuit.

@Peaveylover thanks in advance for taking one for the team. At some point, due to my impulsivity, I'll probably get one too.

I should clarify: the MKI Imperial is based on a Ram's Head- not sure about the MKII, since it incorporates some elements from the Jumbo Fuzz.

I like Ram's Head Muffs too- Bluebeard is supposed to be a descendent of that lineage.

Quick first impressions:

holy crap this sounds amazing. Gobs of low end, even with the tone past halfway. I'm in love, and this will be replacing my alpha haunt

contour slider has tons of range. I'll get a more detailed demo later tonight after work. But if you are worried about low end loss, so issues here!

I'm curious are you well-acquainted with the sound of a green russian muff? I'm wondering how this compares in the low-end. It's not just quantity of low-end, but low-end dynamics as well (green has more dynamics than other versions I've tried).

I have never played a green muff, so can't really contribute there. I'll try and put together a video over the next few days and maybe that will help

It is DI through my darkglass element straight to my computer. I usually play with pretty low action, and this bass was very detuned, so you may just be hearing the fret buzz. I have a Scarlett 2i2 on my shopping list, so once I can get a better setup, I'll have to do a revised vid. I definitely don't want to turn people away from the pedal due to my poor recording equipment! hah
