I hope this is the right place to post. I was asked if I can perform at a family wedding. I could have backing from a drummer and one sax player but unlikely anything more. The other two musicians will need to receive the arrangement for their parts from me and want me to propose the songs. They will go along with any bass-centric set. I said I’ll think about it but people are now insisting so I guess this will be happening.
I am not thrilled at the idea as I am more of a “band” player but given that it is a personal favor I want to do something nice and play 3-4 pieces max. I came with the following list of “potential songs” that are solo or pretty bass-centric and that I know to a certain extent:
Dean Town, Detroit, I’ll be there, scoop, run for cover, redemption, teen town, sex in a pan, portait of tracy.
Which songs will you pick from this list?
I was wondering if anyone has other ideas of “bass-centric” pieces for such a minimal line up? What are other possibilities? I preface that my tapping sucks and that I will not have a ton of time to prepare this but if something good comes out of it I wouldn’t mind adding a new set to the arsenal.
Let me add that they do not want my band to play at the party as they want only family to play and they think the full band will be too loud for the place.
