Some Bongo questions

I appreciate your input Smash as I know you have had alot of problems with this basses design. But it's nice to see you put a nice informative answer down.

Mr goody good I refer you to my post to Bruce the only difference being I don't respect your opinion and never will. I wanted some information on the SOUND you remember what that is don't you. It's the main reason we play bass you know for the SOUND and having never played one you wouldn't know anything about that so shut up until you have something useful to say.

Thank you kindly

I tried one of these for the first time yesterday - the single HB version, 4 string. Overall impressions were very good. The fit and finish were typical Musicman, good quality. It was nice to see they chose to use the higher quality hardware on these, and not the SUB hardware. Playability was nice - it felt like a Stingray, althought the neck finish is more like that on a SUB. I liked the way the body felt, the contours were really comfortable. Also, the bass felt quite light. I don't know if that's actually the case, as according to the EB site, the weight is similar to a Sterling, but I also palyed a Sterling in the same store, and it felt heavier.

Soundwise, it's definitely a Musicman, however, I thought it was more refined sounding than a Stingray. It didn't have quite the aggressive quality that I'm used to with a Stingray. The preamp was good, although I think it's just the normal 3 band EQ they use on the Stingray. Soundwise, I could see this bass appealing to someone who wanted the Musicman sound, but with a bit less of the "in your face" quality that Stingrays seem to have. For me, as a long time Stingray user, I'd prefer to stick with a Stingray sound, but that's personal choice.

I've deliberately left the looks until last, as I wanted to appear objective! Personally, I really don't like the look at all. As was pointed out, the toilet seat jokes are getting old, yet the resemblance is undeniable! However, it seems that enough people like the looks to justify their design, so once again it all comes down to beauty being in the eye of the beholder.
