Ya, but I think he started on a Les Paul, back when most people seem to think he was at his most "legit" as a blues musician.

In images of him with The Bluesbreakers he is seen using a LP. The Royal Albert Hall BBC show from 1968 has him with a Gibson 335 semi-hollow body. That is available on DVD and is an excellent concert. I have seen a pic of him in the late 60's with a T-Bird.

Just my personal taste, but I always thought he sounded a lot better with the Gibsons. He strat sound got pretty sterile, especially in later years.

Real blues guys are Fender players. Strats and Teles for guitarists, P-Basses (with grungy flats) for bass players. Preferably all beaten to hell, with tons of mojo.

A gentleman named "Blues Boy" King might just have to disagree with ya there...Lucille might have somewhat to say 'bout it too...

i once heard martin mole sing a rich man blues that came from the cleveland delta by a blues singer named BLIND LEMON PLEDGE.the opening lines were
