I think the pulley is crucial. You can't always count on the venue to supply one. And even if they do, it'll probably have a terrible buffer.

Actually, we used aircraft cable and the proper hardware to hang the stiff, er, cabinets.

Does a cabinet with wheels count as de-coupling the cab from the floor or do you need an Auralex or other equipment?

Ive tried it both methods. The cab wheels are fine left on for solid flooring like a gig without a stage, and carpet covered concrete for example, but I find my Auralex is definately needed on a bouncy hollow wooden stage...some country stages here in Australia are deplorable and the Auralex is a must. I leave my ext. cab wheels on most of the time unless using the Auralex. A couple of guys in the Fender Rumble club have bought and used an isolation stand called a Mud Stand..check the link below.

I live in Canada, so I use hockey pucks. I use the sponge one and not the regular hard rubber. Its not foam but it's like a soft bouncy spongy rubber. They are also pretty grippy so nothing is moving.They are like a dollar or 2.
They are really effective. 4 between floor and cab and 4 between cab and amp.

Search for sponge hockey puck, orange or black

Have a ton of milkcrates never thought of that

And if you don't like the look, cover them with a black sheet. Much better than a box, which may resonate!

The Bass Player’s Union does not allow milk crates on stage. Something about professional comportment.

It may sound crazy, but I'd LOVE to do this for my SVT810 (yes, I DID say 810)- I like the speakers at head level, and would love to have even that cab about another 12 - 16" higher... That's just me...

This sort of thing works well for an upright bass. Set your upright up on there and play
