Someone buy this Sadowsky, NOW!!!!!

BTW, not like it compares, but I just picked up this little thingy.
Should be here by weeks end.
I know it's not as pretty as some of the others, but hey, I'm starting over and just getting back into the club!!!

So, yes Roger, I'm back as you put it at one time "..from the dark side".

The classic "Will Lee" look!

I LOVE that look. I'm a big fan of J Bass type instruments with classic J Bass looks. That is a GREAT look IMO!

I just got off the phone with Kevin about my NYC 4 order and it's likely that I'm going to have Nordstrand Big Singles in that bass.

edit:

Here are the pending specs if the Big Singles are a go;

NYC 4
Standard Sadowsky Jazz Body
Nordstrand Big Singles
Sadowsky pre + VTC
Maple board
Abalone dot inlays
Coral Salmon finish with matching headstock
Parchment pick-guard and an extra pick-guard in tortoise shell
Standard hardware

ETA: Another 5 months or so.

I'm still trying to get a handle on what this would do to the tone. The basses with the Nord pickups that I've played sounded nice... but very 'polite'.... not any sort of J Bass aggression.... very 'boutique' tone. Is that basically what the Nord option would give you... a more mid voiced and more hi fi/mellow tone and less J bass like versus the typical Sadowsky pickups?

Just curious. I love the Sadowsky J pickups so much, and they are such an integral part of what most of us consider the Sadowsky sound, that I'm interested in why some would be interested in this?

The big singles are supposed to capture a really aggressive singlecoil tone. Having not had any experience with them and going by the testimonials of many of the guys here, I trust that they will deliver. Kevin also mentioned that Roger and co. were really impressed with Carey's pickups. I've tried Nordstrand single coils in the past, as well as their MM4.2 and I loved it.

As a followup to my post, Kevin said that my upgrade to big singles is green-lighted. I'm really, really excited now!

you will not be disappointed.

and glad that roger & co. is going w/ the big singles, cause again, the sadowsky sound is all about getting that souped up super fefner jazz sound, and the nordstrand pickups are merely a continued step in that direction and vision.

Sweet! I just bought masmasbasso's Metro RV4-59B, and I think I might throw a pickup cover on it. There is NOTHING like a Sadowsky. Can't wait!!!

Not enough room for slap!

There will be....

Tommix's bass is a Modern 5-24 ( 24 frets)...

Marcus's bass is a Standard 4 (21 frets)...

Minus 3 frets and you have plenty of room....not that you need more room.

Also...T's Modern is awesome. The Nordstrand Big Singles sound great and with the Sadowsky pre...killer!

Rob

I also disagree with the whole "not enough room for slap" thing... right now, I play a Zon Legacy Elite V with some pretty tight string spacing and a neck pickup that is pretty close to the end of the 24-fret board and it does not hinder playing at all.

I'm super stoked to hear how the VTC takes to the Big Singles. Good things come to those who wait :)

Thanks Rob!! I am wondering if if sounds more the typical Modern 24-5 with the Sad PUPS but bigger or more like a HUGE single coil Jazz with a 24 fret board?

Peace,

T
