Someone cracked the Animato

The one PCB I take a photo of is the one that seemingly has the thick font printing error. Other than that, they seem well done and the connection tests I did confirm they are good, easy to solder. Time to make sure the design matches the new case designs and to all the chances in components and send for the batch print. :D

Bit more work. Finally got the proof of the packaging. Yes, I'm that pedantic but my good friend and her company have produced some custom sized boxes and packaging to just make the overall look a bit more polished.

Also got around to drilling/painting the proto boxes for the voskhod and bitmap.

Thanks Jimmy. Admittedly those two on the right are just spray paint jobs with a clear decal quickly thrown on. The photo makes them look much nicer than they actually are but for illustrative purposes they work design wise. The identity thing is what I wanted to achieve.

Voskhod is a slight tweak of a Russian Big Muff Pi to have just a touch more low end. I actually built one for myself because I thought why not use the parts I already have from the animated, so I looked up what the rest of the parts were, subbed in the transistors and one or two other minor tweaks and I had a Big Muff pedal I was finally happy with, then sold 3 days later because one of my friends wanted to buy it off me. :D

It was the best muff I ever owned and I've seen a few *context sensitive* In fairness, I was kind of floored by it so I thought just to stop being asked about it, I'd make a few. Probably not too far from the Russian BMP if you have one already.

Thanks. I feel if people are going to buy something from me they might as well get something done right, even if admittedly it is very difficult to do considering the lack of resources I have at home to test absolutely everything, hence the delays from outsourced production of PCB's and cases. Just to say, my pedals are soldered/assembled/tested/designed in my bedroom/garage so I outsource whatever I cannot physically do or do *well*. *Well* being to a standard I would like. Perhaps I'm a little fussy. :p

The reason I went this route too was actually a really nice coincidence. When I was in the process of selling my parents shop, one of the potential buyers is a 22 year old woman who owned a clothes shop just a few doors down. Wonderful person who I now owe a lot of coffee debt too. When my parents set a deadline on the shop, she wasn't able to buy it so I did. She then tells me that it is fine and she can focus on her main business, selling boxes and promotional material. Clearly I thought it was too good to pass up. For the slight fraction more than it costs to get the large boxes and bubble wrap, I could have something nicer to put them in.

*If* I get the designs more refined, I might ask them about a run of blank boxes if other people want them for their stuff because I can see people wanting something a bit more suited for their own pedals.

Cheers guys! I spent a good few hours assembling the boxes today. I think the next batch of boxes (probably for the Voskhod and Bitmap) will have cutouts for the jacks to alleviate some of the tightness and maybe they will be a touch taller. The pedals are very secure in the box and for our first attempt at these boxes, I'm really impressed.

PCB's should arrive Thursday or Friday. They've been shipped today. Was nearly about to post a picture of them wrapped up but the amount of personal info on them is a *bit* too much. I'm hoping to god I did well with the dual layer PCB's, so much nervousness about them since I've never made one before.

So the goal from here is get the PCB's, check that one works. Mail the PCB's that are ordered out and commence work on the rest. Cases still aren't shipped yet.
