Something is rubbing off my neck... What could it be?

Ok so I bought a new Ibanez SR506 not too long ago. Ever since I got it, I keep noticing this stuff rubbing off underneath my thumb on my fretting hand.

It feels like eraser shavings. Just tiny little squishy pieces. When I play, I notice it sort of build up near my thumb or I can just rub the back of the neck and it shows up.

Is there some sort of lacquer on the back of the neck that's rubbing off? Will it quit after a while?

Anyone have this problem and have a solution?

Sounds like old skin and grunge from your hands. Rub your palms together hard for a while and you'll get the same grunge.

That's what I thought at first but I'm pretty sure that's not the case here. I've never experienced this on my other basses.

Every once and awhile I have the same issue with the neck on my SR506 as well. I would think it's just due to build-up of gunk on the back of the neck that eventually rubs onto your thumb.

Whenever I notice my neck getting like that, I just take a clean cloth of some sort, dampen it a bit, and rub down the back of the neck thoroughly, making sure to wipe up the water with a dry towel afterwards. It does the trick every time, keeping the neck feeling really fast and super slick, which will make playing a breeze.
