A while back one of my bass cables became intermittent. It was a Sommer 'Grindy Cop Beast' (no foolin'!) that I purchased from Lava. I sent it back to Lava, but was subsequently informed that, since they no longer use Sommer to build their custom cables, they also no longer back them with their lifetime warranty. Mark suggested I contact Sommer directly. I did and was surprised to get a prompt reply from their US distributor who readily agreed to replace my Lava cable, no questions asked! Wow!
In addition, he sent me a sample of a couple of Sommer's other cables to get my opinion. At this time I have the Spirit XXL, which I believe has replaced the Grindy Cop,, and one of their cloth wrapped Classique cables in black/blue (very nice!). Love both of these cables! The XXL is crystal clear,, better imho than the Grindy Cop,, which I found a bit sterile for bass. (of note,,a friend of mine who used it on guitar LOVED it!) They also sent me a Richard Z. Kruspe Signature cable that I permanently loaned to my guitar player. Again,, he loves it and especially loves the way it lays "like a dog in the hot sun"!
I hope Sommer is able to proliferate throughout the US. Great product. Great people. What more can you want?
