Double Bass Song double basses

I bought an unfinished body, neck and fingerboard from this eBay seller, and have posted about my experience on two threads on the Setup & Repair forum.
I would discourage you from buying one for one reason, and that is that they use epoxy instead of hide glue. I only found this out after I bought mine - although I must say that I spent much less than $3600 (but have had to do a lot of work to assemble and varnish the bass).
It's a shame because their workmanship is pretty good, and the purchase was problem-free.
I still haven't finished mine, so can't give a view on how it sounds.

Learning to play the double bass well is a total commitment. If driving a few hundred miles to find a quality instrument seems too hard, learning to play the thing will seem near impossible.
