Song Uno: From here to Eternity

On the last page from Loco-motion to
Ion??

I don't think that would play.

How about....Locomotive Breath - Jethro Tull

We've accepted various other twists of this nature before.

Good luck, guys. You've got a hot one here. I'm going to bow out for a while.

All I want to do is to show how preposterous this way of playing is - what I've done has been done various times before and I'd still suggest we abandon this way of extracting words from words and lay down some concrete rules. If not, we're having a free-for-all.

The rules were laid down in the very first post of this extended thread. The rules never forbid parsing nor do they specify from where in the title a word could or could not be extracted so, as long as the extracted word is a complete word, it's playable. The only exceptions being the words specifically listed in the rules as not primary playable words.

Well, the first post ever states - "(u)sing the previous song title, post another song title using one or more words from that title."

Now, IMHO, it's quite a stretch if words extracted from another word are considered 'one or more words from that title'.

But if the rules are being read differently, no problem then - nobody should be complaining. Locomotion -> Ion, Song -> Son, Weight -> Eight - all should be dandy.

I still think that with respect to how this game has been played over the years, this interpretation of the first rule is still preposterous, but that, again, is relative and there's no reason rules shouldn't change. It's a game, after all.
