Song Uno: From here to Eternity

Well, the first post ever states - "(u)sing the previous song title, post another song title using one or more words from that title."

Now, IMHO, it's quite a stretch if words extracted from another word are considered 'one or more words from that title.

They're still words used from that title. Where in the title they come from is immaterial.

IMO, the proper parsing of words creates more optione and engenders creativity. I find it odd that musicians would want to stifle creativity.

We'll have to go the cliched 'agree-to-disagree' way there. I'm absolutely certain that this game was not created with this in mind. It's like playing 0 after a 6 in a game of Uno, just because there is a circle in 6. If it serves as any precedent, other Song Uno games online don't work this way - I know a couple that forbid this word extraction explicitly.

Well, I guess we here at TB are more progressive, creative and tolerant. :)

I disagree about the 0-6 thing since they're obviously different numbers.

Frankly, I have no idea about what other games do nor do I see why what happens elsewhere should dictate what happens here.

Interestingly enough in your last play it looks like you parsed my previous title Windy...twice. ;)

Doesn't matter. There's nothing in the rules that restricts play to the root of a word.

Why is this even an issue? A word is a word is a word.

I didn't mean with regards to the "rules." Rather, that you seemed to imply that his playing "Wind" off of "Windy" contradicted his objection to playing "Son" off of "Song" or similar plays. Either interpretation of the "rules" is fine by me. :bassist:

Don't forget - we have the Russian judge to keep us in line.
