Songs you just won't play

Totally intended to be lighthearted conversation, and not serious discussion. Play what you like.

However, there some songs I just won't play. Ever.

1. Anything from Lynyrd Skynyrd.
2. Radio country.
3. Eye of the Tiger. (My high school's mascot was a tiger and I was in the marching band, jazz band, pep band, all the bands. We played this horrid song a zillion times and if I never hear it again it'll be too soon. In fact, just recently I left a restaurant while waiting for a table because it came on the overhead. Grrrr......)

So, what won't you play?

The Proclaimers - I’m gonna Be. Learned it for a saint paddy’s gig and ended up double booked so we didn’t end up playing it. We learned it for a gig we didn't play and I’m never playing it again haha.

Radio Country for sure.
Hardcore Metal is a no for me too.

I'll play whatever, over-played hits, polka, country, metal, whatever. I have no shame, if you hire me to play I'll do my best at whatever the gig is. There were a bunch of little kids boppin around in front of us at a recent food truck fest the 80s cover band I'm in played, so we busted into "baby shark"

I play whatever the band I am playing with is playing. I'm just the bass player, I have no diva status to refuse to play a song.

If the band plays the song correctly, or very close to in the ballpark, I’m open to just about anything. I’ve learned a lot playing music that I don’t necessarily enjoy, and in some cases even grew to appreciate the songs beyond the modicum of respect I had for them originally.

Someone noticed a sticky note on our rehearsal space wall which said "Waterloo" and mistook it for the ABBA song.

No, not that Waterloo!

The sticky was for The Kinks' "Waterloo Sunset" ...but my band has not played that one yet either.

You can be a professional or you can refuse to play songs the audience wants to hear. It’s pretty simple.

I will play or attempt to play anything. Some songs I will enjoy more than others, but if the band wants to do it, that’s enough reason to play it for me.
