Songs you just won't play

I skimmed this thread but I lol'ed at a lot of what I read

Why? Because, If it pays - I will play any of those. I don't think I'm too good to play anything. And - most of the songs listed will fill the tip jar every single night. Will I play them at home? Of course not. Am I such a killer muso that I'm too good to play simply to bring joy to others? Omg. Not by a long shot!

I'm here to entertain. That's what I do.

There's no songs I refuse to play but when you're playing covers you play what the audience want to hear, but there are certainly songs I really enjoy playing more than others
+1. I'd lose my job if I suddenly declared: "I ain't playin' that *$#%!"
If I never have to play Mustang Sally or Wagon Wheel ever again I won't complain though!
I'm with ya on "Mustang Sally." However, believe it or not, despite having actively gigged for 20+ years, I had never heard "Wagon Wheel" until last year, and actually had to research it to learn why it's so despised by some folks.

I feel the same way about Mustang Sally, not my favorite and never on our list, but if a couple nice looking ladies ask us for it, yep, I'm in.

And also Wagon Wheel. I must have been living under a rock but until Darius Rucker made it famous I had never heard it. Same status, not on our list but if someone asks, we can wing through it no problem.

I'd not heard of the song either until about 2010 - my then band suggested we learn it because people were requesting it..... Old Crow Medicine show did the version that put the song into the spotlight - Mumford and Sons also do a good version
I just had to Google who Daruis Rucker was as I'd not heard of him

Totally intended to be lighthearted conversation, and not serious discussion. Play what you like.

However, there some songs I just won't play. Ever.

1. Anything from Lynyrd Skynyrd.
2. Radio country.
3. Eye of the Tiger. (My high school's mascot was a tiger and I was in the marching band, jazz band, pep band, all the bands. We played this horrid song a zillion times and if I never hear it again it'll be too soon. In fact, just recently I left a restaurant while waiting for a table because it came on the overhead. Grrrr......)

So, what won't you play? :)
If it can happen to a Buffalo, it can happen to a tiger!
