let me also add my 2 cents here on a job well done. And yes, not many folks your age playing soul music. More's the pity.

I don't know where Duck Dunn fingered this tune but I have played it for years and I move it up to the A string 7th fret. Same register but you then get to use some muting which if done correctly can give the line some thumpy attitude. Particularly when it comes to the chorus where you you can then get those E and D notes thumping and sounding even.

The only other thing I would add would be to think about the line as 2 separate phrases. The first one being the first 6 notes and the second one the last 3.
