Totally enjoyable to listen to. :) Experiment with LFO for your bass line, you could get some hard steps in there perfectly beat synced without having to rock the expression manually. Probably easiest with the programmable step sequencer, but I'd think one of the other stepped LFO would be usable, too. Sometimes you have to run a purposefully slower tap tempo into the BEF Pro to get the steps to run over the period you want. Like a half speed tap against your actual BPM so the steps don't run blisteringly fast.

Oh, no no no. Not at all. Your comment is right on. The Multiwave is its own thing, which is why we did the Classic Distortion (which can be set up for bass, by the way).

My complaining is around comments that certain pedals sound "digital", such as: "The Multiwave sounds digital and therefore it is a bad pedal". (usually this is from a YouTube video played throught small PC speakers!!) This sort of comment happens from time to time on guitar forums and it is hard to take.

You all, on the other hand, make thoughtful, balanced and accurate comments. We like that, because it helps make better pedals!!

Thanks guys, I'll defintely give the LFO a go for the bass line when I make my next attempt. It is fun using it for the weedly-deedly parts though.

I would say more no than yes, but a small yes could be included. There are some ideas blended in with their designs, but their creative control has led to very good sounding boxes with a lot of user control, especially the pro models. I recommend you check out sourceaudio.net and watch the video on the designing of the bass envelope filter, as well as the other demo vids. I will be adding the Bass envelope filter pro to my board, but unfortunately it will have to wait as an xmas present to myself. I already have the multiwave bass distortion pro and I love it!

I normally don't buy any filter pedals which don't have an effect loop, as being able to trigger a filter externally makes it more versatile both in terms of using an external drum to trigger, as well as allowing one to use pedals which remove dynamics in the effect chain leading to the filter while retaining filter movement.

To be clear, as people are talking about using this as a sequenced filter, is there a sidechain input to trigger the filter? If so, I'm going to have to buy one.

Someone mentioned keyboard players also having made this step forward, but I remember during the '80s and '90s, when I played keys and when forums like The Gas Station over at SonicState were just starting. There were lots of... er... enthusiasts who would argue for hours online about the virtues of analog gear, but most of the gear they were using had been supplanted for live use by software and digital synths. It was a simple matter of analog being relatively unstable for live use. At this point, software and digital have replaced analog for live use in most cases.

Now on the main site dedicated to guitar effects, the main demographic seems to be those who have lots of time to post: college students and 20-somethings who rarely gig, let alone get out of the basement or bedroom. There is a lot of talk about the subtle amazing sounds from this and that gear. There are assertions that no one can duplicate a particular circuit's sound, even using identical components, without it being the original builder.

I suspect that the demographic on TalkBass reflects a different group, with the majority of the members actually gigging or having gigged. A decent bass player normally has no problem finding a minimum of one performing situation, so that probably ups the proportion of working players to a larger number than is possible with guitar. That means the membership is open to anything which works better, is more transportable, and is more versatile.

Is there any doubt that TalkBass is one of the best sources of practical information on the net?

No sidechain. The sequenced filter is very fun though.

Hello all,

I've been messing with BEF Pro a couple of days now. the filter sound is great and the eq is fun. but i end up puzzled in wireless hot-hand. i adjust all the possible settings that the manual and demo video says. but it seems that thing won't work for me and didn't know the reason why? and one thing, how to change the waveform of the LFO? i want to make some experimental dubstep sound. but how? can someone help me out here.

So I bought one of the first wave of BEFs from SA a while back. LOVE the pedal but I just sold it yesterday to upgrade to BEF Pro.

Now that its gone, I feel that something is missing in my life, and I can't wait for UPS to drop one a week later, so I see that a local store carries SA products (plug for Mr. Music in Allston).

I go there at lunchtime TODAY and see they don't have one. Talk to one of the guys and he says "Want me to order one?" Sure, thinking I'll have to wait a week. He picks up the phone, talks to our friends at SA, and they said it will be delivered this evening. Granted, they are located just north of Boston, but DUDE, TODAY!!!!! HAND DELIVERED!!!!

just saying, that is phenomenal customer service! Nothing but love for these guys.

I just started diving in to my BEF Pro yesterday. I set up 6 basic presets and they're all great. Now I'm getting into the LFO section. Does anyone know when the 'user downloadable step sequence' thing will be ready?
