Hello!

I’m in the UK!

I’ve been trying to find a good deal on this pedal. Not easy! The reviews and videos point to it being a fine distortion pedal for bass.

Currently have an EBS multidrive. It’s ok, but not to be my taste for home recording.

Any other options I could consider for the same form factor?

Aftershock's can be had for between £85-£130 on the used market in the UK, Nicholas. The digital vs analogue conversation should be taken into consideration, but ultimately it depends on what you're looking for; a jack of all drives or master of one.

Hello! I’ve been looking all over for a used Aftershock but neither they’re way over these prices or don’t come with the original box and contents (always good for reselling)…

If you want to cast your net a little wider, the L.A. Lady and Kingmaker are functionally the same pedal if you use the Neuro app. Afaik, you can even assign the physical knobs to be the Aftershock knobs.

I'm going to check on a mint SA Kingmaker Fuzz tomorrow, that has everything and has been sitting for a year, in a pre-owned shop.

The Aftershock, L.A. Lady and the Kingmaker Fuzz dirt pedals are all interchangeable for sound functions in the same way the Mercury, Lunar and Gemini modulation pedals are.

I've had stuff sent from UK/EU/Canada but never looked into going back the other way. I'll let you know what I find out on the pedal and perhaps we can get there from here depending on how it stacks up.

Each knob does something, but I guess that's in the manual and on the SA website. What it is labeled is a huge limitation for some people...

It’s confusing for me. The Aftershock is marketed as being for bass. Now I discover there’s other pedals that can do exactly the same thing. Are they for bass as well?

How can I decide which to consider?
I only wanted a better distortion pedal than the boring EBS multidrive and the irritatingly over powerful Grizzly Bass and the now broken HM-2.

Have been listening to videos on the Darkglass stuff. They don’t interest me either.

Source Audio has great equipment that has a few Bass specific products (i.e. Ultra Wave Bass, ZIO Bass Preamp). But, the OD/Distortion/Fuzzz is awesome on Bass. As are the other stuff.

I have their Nemesis pedal.
It has just too many features for my needs. Might sell it eventually for something simpler. Only wanted analog delay and high quality reverse feature on that pedal and yet there’s all these extra noises that are fun and probably fun to make for the manufacturers but it’s over kill for me.

I simply record at home and want truly killer analog sounding distortion without all these excessive programmable bits. For some these might be awesome, but I have no need to craft my songs using that stuff. Just takes too long.

I TOTALLY understand!

You'll never find a more voluminous and flexible pedal than a Source Audio. But, it does come with a commitment to technology, learning and time!

My new SA ZIO Bass Preamp arrives tomorrow. All analog, simple control and smart features.
