Source Audio C4 update if/when?

I want one of these pedals, but at 6+ years on the market I'm certain immediately after I buy one and my return period ends they'll update it. How long can they possibly carry on with it using that prehistoric mini (micro?) USB connector? USB-C should be the universal standard now and I won't buy anything without it. Even better would be the addition of Bluetooth for wireless Neuro 3 app control. Any thoughts/expectations?

I have no clue, but I would:

1. Ask them
2. Try the new MXR
3. Try to find a used SA C4 in order to reduce the financial risk

That said, I've had that bitter experience with an amp, I bought the Phil Jones Double Four just before they announced the Double Four Plus with added Bluetooth and optional battery. It's not the end of the world, I bought an external bluetooth adaptor, but I was a bit annoyed.

They implied on TB that a C4 upgrade was in the pipeline at some point, but no timeline given. I've mostly stopped using mine in favor of the Future Impact v4 and MXR Bass Synth (mostly just because I felt too tied to the editor for what I want to do and I hate that feeling), but I could imagine an updated version of the Source Audio approach that I would use for sure!

That is surprising. The Artifakt has a USB C connector.

Hopefully @rsmith601 will reply to your concerns. While I understand your reluctance the C4 Synth, as it is currently still a powerful and great sounding pedal. I have mentioned before how much I would love to see an updated Synth pedal platform similar to the Artifakt that does have a USB C connector.

Licensing and implementing Bluetooth may be more complex or expensive for a small independent company like Source Audio.

A C4 in the Artifakt enclosure, including the extra knobs, second footswitch and preset access would be an excellent step up on the original I feel.

And obviously it’d have to be called the C5

USB-C We were slow to move to USB-C, because the initial generation of jacks were not robust. Its a huge change and much more than just simple hardware swap. Moving to USB-C on Artifakt quite a bit of effort. The work around is not bad at all. We ship a USB-A to USB-C inside each new pedal. If someone needs one, we will send it. I am not saying this is a nothing sandwich, but we are trying to make it easy.

Bluetooth How many all-metal housed pedals have Bluetooth. Zero! This is a case of where it seems like "how hard is it to add Bluetooth???" It's very hard. The pedals that have it must expose an antenna somewhere (the H9 hides it on the display screen). If it were easy, Artifakt would have it. Believe me! Note that we have more wireless experience than almost any other pedal company (10,000 wireless Hot Hands sold.)

I loved mine when it came out. Curious to how much future was available with the c4, I asked how much hardware was being used, SA stated 100% or near that. FWIW

One thought-

I'd be lost without my DMC-Micro Pro and the ability to name/ access all my presets on the C4. That was a huge step-up in utility for me with the C4. Not that it's no good without it, just that it makes things so much more convenient and gig-friendly.

I initially used a DMC Micro Gen 3 with my C4 because just the six presets weren't enough and I needed to scroll through them quickly. I agree, if the C4 itself would just have a two footswitch scroll possibility with at least the preset numbers that would be so useful.

Jumping on and reviving a dead thread to say that I would pay a lot of money for two C4s in one bigger enclosure, or a Source Audio MultiFx with two processing chips that could run any algo from their pedal lines. A *lot* of money.
