In other news, I’ve finally got my head around writing my own drum parts in Ableton thanks to assistance yesterday from my friend, @GisserD so for all of you who are sick to death of hearing the same drum pattern on my patch clips, there is relief for you!

Here’s my first attempt at something with a pattern of my own.

I’m afraid it isn’t, it’s a Bass Station plug-in patch I made. Not sure that I could recreate this one as it uses some filter sustain which the C4 doesn’t have. I could probably get reasonably close as it’s a pretty simple patch.

one thing I’ve butted up against recently is that it’s impossible to achieve VCO vibrato on 4-oscillator patches. Unless I’m missing something, I’ve only been able to create user-controllable pitch vibrato by mapping an oscillator’s detune knob to the expression pedal and switching on the “modulate” button in that oscillator. Thus, raising the pedal increases the maximum detune amount applied, which is swept by the LFO.

Three things to note are as follows:
1. In order to apply this to a 3-oscillator patch, one has to use all three slots of the external control, which leaves nothing left for other modulations.

2. The depth of VCO vibrato via the above method is actually quite low.

3. In order to get fast enough vibrato, one has to use LFO 2 and have that be set to a multiple of LFO 1.

In any future firmware revision, could you please consider adding an all-oscillator pitch mod control, or one where the user can decide which voices are under its control? And could it have a larger depth than currently afforded by the method I outlined above? Thank you.

As this came up in the FI thread, I thought it'd be equally interesting to post here. Here's a comparison of the raw oscillsators of the FI and C4.
FI is played first in both clips, levels all matched prior to recording.

Sounds like Soundcloud has introduced some artefacts even though I uploaded in WAV so here they are uploaded directly to Google Drive:

So what's the upshot here, that the FI has a bit of an LPF on it?

With the filter removed, I no longer hear a difference of any significance. Maybe, maybe the C4 square wave is ever so slightly brighter. But not like I thought before with the FI filter in place.

The oscillators on the FI and the C4 should be similar. Bob Chidlaw totally knows his stuff on our side. Just look at his resume. On the FI side, the guy worked on the DI. And the FI is now multiple firmware revisions into the game. These 2 are the best out there. The polyphonic stuff creates bad osc waveforms on single notes.
