Source Audio OFD vs MultiwaveBD

I'm looking to get a new distortion pedal and I wonder if anybody has compared these two directly?
Sometimes I just need a light crunch, others I need full-on distortion. It will be used alongside an MXR Bass Octave Deluxe. Music style would be prog rock I suppose.

I've listened to demos of each and I like them both! Is one regarded to be 'better' than the other? Can the multiwave achieve some of the same sounds as the OFD? Any other suggestions? I'm using a Way Huge Pork Loin at the moment but it doesn't get dirty enough

Any help would be much appreciated.

i own both and the OFD does multiple types of 'vintage ' distortion pedals/sounds. the Multiwave is capable of more 'synthy' sounding distortion tones.
the OFD is one of my favorite pedals. if you're going for more traditional sounds, get the OFD. if you're going for unique distortion tones, the Multiwave.

Thank you so much John. That's very helpful advice. We play synthy electronic sort of prog so I think maybe the multiwave. The OFD sounds so good though. Maybe I'll end up with both!

On the OFD you can still get some synthy tones. Using the gated fuzz or octave fuzz with the noise gate on high, and roll the volume of the bass back so it barely triggers the gate. It's synth heaven. Definitely a different palette of tones than the multiwave though.

I have a question about the source audio ofd. on the blend control, I've noticed that on the sides it says clean and high cut clean. is there a difference between the clean side and the high cut clean side? or are they more or less the same?

The hi cut rolls off the treble of the clean signal which can help it mesh with the distortion better. When I want a strong clean signal mixed in, I use the High cut side and use the eq to cut the bass from the distorted signal.
