Source Audio Sorcerers Society (S.A.S.S) Part 3

It is funny SA reps have eluded to Soundblox 2 pedals not selling as well as hoped. It was surmised that this was due to both “odd” look and impression of the pedal’s abilities and control being too complicated. This thread does not help that. J Even with the “standard looking” One Series, there is lots of talk about software and firmware and interfaces that make the One series and Soundblox sound complicated.

I don’t have any one series yet, but I do have three Soundblox 2, the Hub and the Hot Hands 3 and want to tell people that I still haven’t hooked up to a computer or phone. You can use these a plain-old stomp boxes that have 2 presets. A few minutes out of the box and you are turning knobs and ready to go. Using the Hub and saving presets is as easy as holding down the save button.

In summary, great pedals that aren’t as complicated as some might think. You don’t have to be a computer programmer or Midi expert to use these pedals.

Agreed. I had no trouble getting around the SB2 pedals. I do occasionally have to reference the manual for EXP assignments as they aren't the same pedal to pedal and I forget.

I think most of the 'stigma' against these more likely comes from the guitar player side of things. I constantly hear such superstitious and unfounded 'truths' about gear from my guitar players friends.

Look at the MXR bass comp. some guitar players actually used it and like it, but the majority wouldn't buy it because of the word bass. So they renamed a version with the word studio in place of bass, same pedal but now guitar players go crazy for it.

:/

The One Series pedals look less intimidating in a store setting, I bet. And, the three default sounds are designed as classics that any player would be happy to use, I think. Like you said--you could go for ages without ever using the One Series with three default settings and be very, very happy with the pedals.

I will be enjoying starting to mess with the Nemesis tonight. I will attempt to make some sound samples, but the three kids running amok might be prohibitive...

Yup, you guys are hitting on all the key points. The one other thing is the SB2 pedals look bigger and uglier in pictures than in person. We did lots of the images as renderings, which did not help. You are also right that bass players have been much more open. Love you guys, but we can't sustain our level in engineering without having the guitar community on board. As least you know via the hiring of Nathan and my continued presence here that we don't forget our first fans. Ever!!!

I definitely see some SB2s in the pedalboard threads on TGP, but not enough (lousy guitarists :D)
I, for one, don't understand the less than positive hype previously mentioned. I love the SB2 line! The size is good, the feature set is great and the fact that you essentially get two pedals in one is excellent. I would be perfectly happy if all pedalmakers adopted the SB2 framework, frankly.

I think it was Immortal Technique that said, "Universal truth is not measured in mass appeal."

I really dug my Pro BEF but I didn't really need immediate access to all of the features (and there are A TON of features on that bad boy) at all times. What I like about the One Series is that they are immediately playable and tweakable, and I'm able to create scenes in a way that seems a lot "safer" - as in, if I mess up a setting, I won't be screwing around for hours trying to get it back. Maybe I'm just a dummy, but I can wrap my brain around the One Series and the Neuro app a lot better. Plus, as an added bonus, the pedals' finishes are incredibly sexy. You guys knocked it out of the park.

I've been thinking about picking up a Dimension, but a part of me wants to wait it out and hope that SA releases a One Series reverb. Call it the "Quasar" or something...

Is there any word on a One Series reverb? Sorry if I missed that, that was the first thing I thought of when first playing through the Nemesis. Nemesis + One Series reverb would be game over.
No word yet, just hopes and dreams!

I put my roomie's Holy Grail in the effects loop of the Nemesis and it sounds absolutely heavenly! I'd love to do the same thing with a Source Audio 'verb.

Also may I be added to the club? Is that how it works? Been creeping for a long time but finally thought I'd join in on the fun. Have a Manta and a Nemesis and love both to death. The Nemesis has quickly become my favourite piece of gear I own and I cannot think of a delay that could possibly be any better.

By the way, One Series Hub Manager (including Distortions and Nemesis) is almost done! Looks great.

Hooked up the Nemesis to my bass board. Can't wait for Hub Manager support, have an extra port on my hub just waiting for it.

Now just hurry up and release the Solemate so I can replace my Gecko and I will be set :D

Question about the Hub Manager for 1series, will we have access to the Neuro user community presets through the Hub Manager?
Heck yes! Couple of ways.
1) Some emails it to you. Or, you email it to ourself from inside the app.
2) You go the Neuro community page on our web site and browse for presets. Your then download the preset you want, which is a .pre file type. You then import it into the Hub Manager. It is really simple and intuitive.

Actually my "Indian electrical installation" (as was called in the breeders thread) is already somewhere on previous pages but here it goes again, don't want to pass for a poser right?

That's a lot of cool stuff for a complete and utter dumpster fire. :D
