I don't know about plugging directly into the c4 but plugging in to the Soleman the switch on my ep3 is set to standard. I had to tweak the range knob to calibrate it to the expression CC in the soleman.

Reading the manual source audio expression pedals use TRRS which is power - x - y - ground but it states the c4 should also work with a 1/8th TRS which is power - expression - ground. From other brands.

If one of the two settings on the moog doesn't work I'd guess the other will. I'd try with standard first, but remember you likely have to go into the editor and assign it to an effect parameter.

I don't have as many SA pedals as @skeeler (nice board!), but am fresh off a New Year's board revamp. I've been having a ton of fun programming sounds on the C4, and it's now officially in the mix for 2020. And after some MIDI programming (with some helpful pointers from @Chace90), my board is now pretty much completely automated and I won't lie... I'm kinda nerding out about it.

I use an iPad with ForScore for charts with all my main gigs, and I can assign MIDI commands to each chart. So I can set up charts in setlist order, and each chart automatically sends MIDI PC & CC to my board, which pulls up the appropriate patches including turning things on/off in both my HXFX and C4. SUPER slick.

Extra credit: I control ForScore with a Bluetooth page turner. :cool:

SIGNAL PATH:
Bass > Symmetry > C4 > HXFX > Funk Face > Qstrip > outs to board, IEMs and/or amp
Dunlop Mini Vol: HXFX expression controller
HXFX Loop 1: Octabvre
HXFX Loop 2: Bass Envelope Phaser

MIDI:
iPad > Apple Camera Connector > HXFX USB in > MIDI out > Hub > control cable to C4

Notes:
- I've got more envelope filters than I could ever need with the BEP/C4/HXFX, so the Funk Face is there mainly for the tube grit/overdrive and warmth.
- Bass Envelope Phaser sticks around because I still haven't been able to replicate that one with the HXFX or C4.

This video despite the title is more of a "how to use an expression pedal with the neuro hub" than a Soleman tutorial, in the video it states that expression plugged into soleman will be covered in a later video. Was that video ever made? I can't find it.

I feel like the Soleman should come with two manuals, one for use as a programmable midi controller, and another manual/quickstart guide for interfacing specifically with the neuro hub/editor and SA pedals. I've figured out how to create/save and change scenes both with the desktop editor, and the soleman/hub themselves.

However, I am all kinds of confused about how to go about assigning the expression pedal connected through the Soleman - searching through this thread for answers has added to said confusion. So questions -

1. Are there any limitations in using an expression pedal plugged into a midi controller vs plugging directly into the neuro hub? Like can I still assign one expression pedal plugged into the soleman to multiple control parameters of multiple pedals like I could using the expression port on the neuro hub per the video above?

2. Based on the answer to 1. - Should my SA pedals be set to the same midi channel? As it stands.. I do see the green light flashing as I move my expression pedal given the Soleman's expression input is set to a corresponding midi channel.

I might answer my own question in a bit.. next time I go in the music room I'm going to set them all to the same midi channel and follow the instructions for the above video, with my expression pedal plugged into the Soleman and see what happens. I'm honestly fond of the bar graph when I move the expression pedal.

However if anybody reads this and from the top of their head/without too much effort is able to clear me up and point me in the right direction - I think this is the last thing to wrap my head around before having fun creating my own scenes and set lists.

I answered my own questions. >.< Well... at least I know enough now to get the expression pedal working via midi controller using the desktop editor, which, lets me assign up to 3 controls from each pedal connected to the hub.

It just took me reading the same information a few times within the manuals for each the hub, soleman, and at least one of my pedals before it dawned on me what I was missing.

Have to say.. pretty awesome. Like having a pedalboard with all the wah pedals you could ever want.. and that's just where I've gotten with it so far. Having the spectrum as a dedicated envelope filter within any given scene, being able to engage/disengage layers of a scene at will..

It's madness I tell ya.. madness.. funky madness.

The level of complexity using the Hub w DMC.Micro is starting to get to me. I thought I had it set in preset mode where id save scene w hub, then save in dmc in preset mode, but that isnt consistent w active/bypass. Trying in devA mode isnt improving things. I went through setup in the micro, only one device A, the Hub.

Seems pedals are activated when empty scenes are called up. Is there a misalignment between scene numbers and callup nimbers from micro??

I think Hub starts at PC 00

The problem is there is no standard. Pedals (such as Nemesis) start at preset 1. (that is the most reasonable number in that context). The MIDI standard starts at 00. Lots or pedals start at 1. Its a problem for everyone..... :(

Dmc bypsss doesn't work with hub, you will need to bypass pedals manually, there's not a good way to do this with the dmc.
