I have the TB app on Android and so far only use it for emergencies and scanning posts in a pinch. It is well executed, nice to have, and good to have, but not the "go to" path for TB.

Keep in mind that I am an engineering, geeky, company-guy!!

Then, Mr. Geek Engineer...I challenge you to add a parallel output to the Programmable EQ so players like me can have an easy way to have a split channel board AND EQ presets. :D

It is interesting to me how many more problems there are to be solved with pedals. It is like whack-a-mole. Just when we think we nailed one, another one or two pops up. I guess my life's work will be trying to solve the worlds problems with better and better pedals. ;)

I picked up the MXR KFK1 because it combined the basic utility of an EQ and two outputs. No need for another pedal to split the signal, huzzah! Now, it would be even better if I had the preset abilities of the PEQ, so I could optimize my setting between the electric and acoustic bass, instead of settling for a common ground. If y'all can add a second output, I would be replacing the KFK1.

Parallel signal chains is the way to go.

i think it was dooder at Catalinbread that said something about NEVER making pedals geared for bass players?

"they never shut up. it's never good enough. does it have a blend? does it have top mounted jacks? WHAT COLOR IS THE LED??!? guh."

..... something like that. i put it in quotes AND paraphrased. i am a CONUNDRUM.

Just put an order in for a BEF Pro. I've been on the fence with this one for awhile, and finally decided to pull the trigger. It seems weird, since I have a Xero D and fall more in love with it every day after almost a year. I think I will mainly use this for some env. filter and phaser, but also so I can leave the laptop and interface at home and still be able to do LFO stuff.

Two questions: can I use a Moog EP2 exp pedal with this? Can I use a FCB1010 MIDI controller for expression capabilities? I didn't read everything in the thread so excuse me if these questions are redundant. Thanks guys!

Yes and yes. I've never tried using both the expression jack and expression through MIDI at the same time if that's what you mean, so I don't know if both work simultaneously, but you really wouldn't need to use the expression jack if you're using MIDI.

The Moog works, its what I used but I've moved on to the SA Dual Expression pedal, now idea about that MIDI controller though.

I got a MW Distortion a month ago and it has become my favorite dirt pedal.
So many cool sounds in this box, not as over the top as my Second Voice but still super cool.
So just last week I sprang for a Dimension Reverb and this thing is so good.
It does the classics spot on and does whack city if you wanna go there.
Source Audio is doing some real cool stuff and I plan on checking out some more of their stuff when funds allow.

Thanks guys!

OK, so if anyone has time to answer this I would appreciate it. Could I set up the MIDI controller so that one pedal controls cutoff frequency, one controls LFO rate subdivisions, and a footswitch to select waveform at the same time? Just brainstorming some possibilities.

i do it this way :

i have 1 pedal ( the Moog one) connected to my midi controller (sending midi to the MWBDPro and BefPro)
then by pressing the buttons on the controller i pick what setting i want my pedal to control
i made settings for all the stuff that is controlable

* STOMPBOX : DistDRIVE
* STOMPBOX : DistEQ
* STOMPBOX : DistCLEANMIX
* STOMPBOX : DistMIX
* STOMPBOX : DistMORPH
* STOMPBOX : EnvFREQ
* STOMPBOX : EnvDEPTH
* STOMPBOX : EnvWETDRYMIX
* STOMPBOX : EnvSPEED

so if i want the pedal to control the Drive of the Distortion, i just activate that stompbox, if i want something else i press something else... :-)
if i want it to adjust the drive of the distortion AND the speed of the Envelope... i just press those 2 !
so you can morph from 1 dist sound to another while changing a parameter for the Bef... and do .... and ..... and .... at the same time...

i'm discovering weird, crazy sounds everytime i use those things !

:-)

What are the differences between the 3?

SB1 - one present. Works on either AC or 4x AA battery. Medium footprint. Limiter parameter control. Hot Hand control input. Plastic. Lowest cost (avg. $119)

SB2 - 2 presets. AC only. Small footprint. Lots of parameter control. Expression/Hot Hand/MIDI control input and output. Metal housing. Universal bypass. Medium cost ($169-$189).

SP Pro - 6 presets. 7 band graphic EQ. Largest footprint. Lots and lots of controls and features (most of SB2 and more). (avg. $219).

This is not exact, but you get the idea.

The SB1 came out first. The SB Pro was second. The SB2 is the newest and in many ways represents all that we have learned.

Can I get a number? And possibly a link to an online store that has the wireless Hot Hand in stock?

Here's a question:

So I've had the BEF Pro for a month now, and I'm a bit disappointed. I don't much care for quacky envelope-filter type sounds, and the BEF definitely excels at those.

What I'm after is the triggered filter sweep type sound, like the filter section of Bass Micro Synth or the Slow Filter sound on the Line6 modelers. Something where I can set the rate, resonance, and start and stop frequencies. Or, at least set the stop frequency and have it start at 0 (or thereabouts), and trigger the sweep with my note attack.

I have not been able for the life of me been able to cop this sound with the BEF. I'm running into a couple issues here:

  1. Start frequency is never constant - it seems to change in the relation to input volume. This touch sensitivity is nice (dig in harder, start the filter deeper), but most of the time I just want a straight trigger.
  2. Frequency continues to respond to note volume as the note decays - so if I've got a fuzz in front that get louder/brighter as the note blooms, filter frequency starts heading back in the opposite direction. This means if I've got anything on in front of the BEF, I get jittery warbles up and down instead of smooth sweeps.
  3. The "Speed" knob doesn't really make sense to me. In the Attack/Decay section, I can get close to the sound, but the filter, understandably enough, starts to close as the note decays. If I set just to decay (and flip the "Sweep Range" to compensate), I get clicky little beeps in my attack while the filter snaps shut. This is cool, but not what I'm after - I want the filter closed by default, and only open when triggered by my attack.

Is the BMS-style filter possible with the BEF? I'm starting to suspect it is not the right choice for me.

Edit: Thought of this as a way to illustrate my point - I want to roll the volume down on my bass, and still get the same filter sweep.
