Thank you all so much for the compliments on the video!

I think I may have mentioned it in the video intro but this pedal really took me by surprise in how much of a creative spark it was. There's something about Reverb that makes me just want to sit and play for ours...on top of that are the fun expression pedal and echo features that the pedal has.

Trying to come up with clips for this turned out to be opening up a new door to my bass playing. It was really, really rewarding. I hope that the same happens to anyone who adds it to their board! Who here is considering it?

So not to get off topic, but I have a quick question.

I recently bought the HH wireless adapter. For some reason, even when the pedal is not on, the receiver creates a small hum through my rig. But as soon as I unplug the receiver, there is no hum. Which is why I believe it is the receiver itself. Also, the range on it is only about 20 feet before it stops working completely.

I tried fully charging and then draining the HH itself a few times. Thinking that maybe its like a cell phone battery and needs a few cycles before it gets going 100%. But that didnt work.

Did I get a wonk receiver or something? Any thoughts?

The Source Audio power supply is nice and isolated. The SA Soundblox 1 series also have good filters on the power rails. When we created the original Soundblox series we made the assumption that all pedals had good filters on their supply rails and that power supply manufactrurers had nice isolated supplies. That assumtion did not turn out to be correct. What happens is the noise from the Hot Hand Reciever goes into the power supply to the SA pedal and then goes up the supply to the other pedals. Note that when you use an SA power supply that the problem goes away! The noise is still there, but the SA pedal filters it and so does the isolated power supply.

In my time of playing with power bricks and the older SA pedals, I noted that it happened when I put lots of things on the same brick. I also noted that it was the Soundblox 1 series and not the Pro series. I also noted that it was always solved by using a dedicated suppply and not the brick. Batteries work in the SB1 too, as an experiment.

I am checking with Jesse to see if my memory is right on this.

The short range on the wireless Hot Hand does not match my experience. I have noted 100+ feet in ideal spaces and more like 60+ feet in less ideal spaces. We have never seen only 20 feet. Perhaps the 2.4G spectrum is really full where you are at?

Send a PM to Will (itswac) if you need any more info or help!!

Yeah I was hoping you'd chime in since we had talked about it previously! I'll try it out in a few more locations and on some other boards to see if that solves it. Im not sure what a 2.4G spectrum is though...

Actually this was not my experience, though I was using the supplied adapter I was getting heavy hum (and radio). I talked a bit with Jess and was even sent another power-supply. The problem continued until I cracked the supply open and wired an extra filter in there. I was thinking the extra current draw from the HH was sagging the supply. But perhaps not?

Hmm. Soundblox 1?

I never had any problems when I ran the SoundBlox Flanger, Phaser and BEF via a single strand of Godlyke Power-All connections. Add in the tuner and EQ I had at the time to finish off the 5 connections, and wired Hot-Hand...I never had any power problems, static or anything go weird.

Sorry to get all geeky on you! 2.4G is the slice of the radio spectrum which we use for the wireless hot hand. It is a huge area, but lots of other things work there these days. When there is lots of other stuff active, you do not lose the connection, but the range can decrease.

These are things which are in the 2.4G band: microwave ovens, Bluetooth devices, many wireless networks, some cell phones, some cordeless home phones.

Herman Li is probably our most experienced international touring artist with the wireless (about 4 years playing on many huge stages all over the world). I think he encountered one place where it did not work well, but none of their wireless gear was working and they suspected that some kind of illegal transmission was blocking everything. Otherwise, it has been reliable.

Send Will a PM if the problems persist!

Another great demo, and I'm probably going to be getting some heat from the wife pretty soon when I get one of those. :) My only concern is that looking at the manual, it talks about expression pedal use, and I see you're using one, but it seems I would have to get one of the SA Expression pedals, right? I'm not averse to buying your products at all, but my favorite thing about an EP-2 is it's $40.

This noise thing is purely a Wireless Hot Hand receiver issue. Most of the time it can be solved by putting the pedal with the Hot Hand receiver on a separate power supply. I am a bit baffled by Skrogh's experience. :hmm:

We really wanted to have Hot Hand, MIDI, and Expression in and out on the SB2. The only way to do this was via the sensor jacks. If it were the Pro housing, we would have the 1/4 inch Expression option. Sorry about that.
