Edit: Thought of this as a way to illustrate my point - I want to roll the volume down on my bass, and still get the same filter sweep.

But this is how envelope filters generally work--unless you're using a pedal expression in which case it's called a wah wah pedal. Or you could use a wireless Hot Hand. But generally envelope filters don't give you the same filter sweep when you turn down your signal. They're designed to be triggered by crossing a signal strength threshold, aren't they? Turn down your volume and you won't reach it. Turn it up and you'll reach it all the time. Unless you dial in different sensitivity settings for these different volumes. Amirite? Or maybe I'm missing something?

Well, I agree, that's how most envelope filters work. But because the BEF seemed very all-in-wonder, I was hoping to use the envelope as a trigger for controlled sweeps. Everything else about it I love - the presets, the EQ, the LFO w/tap, the different filters, the exp and HotHand controls; but I think to get the BMS-style sweeps, I'm going to need to keep looking. The straight envelope style sound is just not particularly useful for me as I'm after synth-y sweeps, not envelope-y funk.

I'm sure I'll just break down and buy the BMS eventually, but I'd like to hold off on that for at least a little longer :D

Yeah, the tricky thing for me has been centering the frequency in the lowest frequencies - even 5hz either direction can be the difference between hearing the note or not. In this case (my standard use case) I'd much rather have predictability than the touch-sensitivity that the BEF offers. Of course this only an issue with the envelope.

The Xerograph Deluxe seems to be more of a triggered sweep than an envelope-proper. Pluck once, and hear the full range of the sweep from bottom to top.

..I need better terminology for what I'm trying to describe.

Hi All
Apologies if this has been asked before, but a search didn't highlight it.
I have a Multiwave bass distortion pro, and I have a problem.
Occasionally, but often enough, the selected effect seems to get stuck on the pedal, so that when bypassed there is residual effect still present. If it happens at all it affects all three switches. I can still select and adjust effects, and it is the last selected effect that remains when switched to clean.
The entire effect isn't still present, but it is definitely not clean.
I've tried removing the power, but this doesn't always clear it.
It appears now that removing ALL cables clears the prob, but I need to try this a few more times to be sure.
I've contacted Source Audio (yesterday) but not heard back yet (it's a bit soon).
Anyone else seen this?

Here is our latest bass pedal demo...the sounds of the Soundblox 2 Dimension Reverb!

Reverb Bass Pedal Demo - Soundblox 2 Dimension Reverb - YouTube

This was a really interesting one to make. The pedal opened up some new doors in my playing. I know a couple of you have gotten the Reverb. Have you had a similar experience?

That sounds really good. Great playing, too!

My struggle has been to wrestle the reverse sweeps into useable sounds. Maybe I just need to up the frequency or make use of the EQ. When i record them they seem super woofy, too beefy to really use. The standard wah sounds are always good.

I have found, in my limited usage time, that the best way to get a good downsweep is to start with the frequency all the way clockwise. Then, bring the range down in very small increments from almost 12 o'clock until you like the sound, and it isn't woofy. You can then turn the frequency down a little bit to further tweak the range. With the 4 pole filters I usually have the range set pretty close to 12 o'clock. With the 2 pole filters, it is closer to 9 o'clock, but this will depend on pickups and playing style. This is the way I've found to tweak most filters that have a downsweep function. I actually really like the sound and response of the reverse sweep on the BEF Pro. It has a wide range and takes to a gated fuzz beautifully.

Thanks! I'm going to re-read this carefully while the unit is in front of me.

Yes, I know this post runs the risk of me patting our company on the back and hence getting me black-balled forverer!! However, for this once I will take the risk of all that:

Will Cady: this video kicks you know what. It is the best product demo video of all time. May I very publically acknowledge your and Jeff's epic accomplisments.

I am not ready to face the firing squad.....

I can't wait to get my hands on one of these after I get back from tour. :bassist:

Excellent video Will, very in depth but still with so many different nuances with this pedal there is so much more that can be done with it.

I love pedals and am always picking up things used and before I tried any SA stuff it had been about 4 years since I bought a pedal new.

Now I the past month I have bought 3 new SA pedals, in addition to the reverb I picked up the phaser/flanger and the wah/filter with wireless Hothand.

I am really surprised I have not heard more about these pedals especially considering how inexpensive they are.

I have barely scratched the surface with either of these pedals and am still getting some amazing sounds for bass and guitar.

On the phase/flanger if I hook up the Hothand but just set it aside I can get some awesome filtered sounds. These are the sounds I was trying to get with my Flanger Hoax but could not get cause of the up and down sweep, now I can nail it with less noise.

To say the least I am incredibly happy with these new tools in my arsenal and I am looking forward to the new stuff in the works.
