Source Audio UltraWave ~ Catch the Wave

Could the volume spikes be something to do with the expression values set? Maybe if the patch has expression 'On' try switching it off. Apart from that no i can't think what could be wrong here.

I just checked and external control is off for all my patches. I need to systematically go through and see which patches this happens with and see if there's any through-line on the settings for those.

@mikeynets welcome to the conundrum of the UW the second most complex SA pedal after the C4. I established a "base line" of settings that I will check whenever I am sample and saving a new patch from the Neuro Cloud. This has helped me to even out such differences between saved settings as how you use your bass and playing style as we all have different equipment and differ in the ways we get sounds from our basses.
I also have a set of sounds I may edit for a particular bass or playing style eg I have several patches I use for fretless bass that are very different from my usual bases, also building a new bank for my Ray 4 as it has a different tone and character than my main basses plus I play that bass quite differently.

Funny enough, I use your fretless patch with my P Bass with flats and crank up some of the settings to get a musical, mild overdrive. The Neuro Cloud is so cool for finding reference points to get into the UW.

Hi,

Is there an Envelope triggered Tremolo in the ULTRAWAVE, like for instance in the C4? I mean a Trem, that begins when the string is plugged? And if so, how do I activate it?

Cheers and thanks in advance!
There must be an Ultrawave preset where the trem is triggered by the envelope?

The LFO sounds and feels like it restarts with each trigger, but I could be wrong. The Multiband Tremolo certainly does. However there is not a command for that specific function like there is on the C4 or Spectrum.

I had to step away from the forum for a bit while I had some gigs and figured out what I really wanted from the Ultrawave. Part of that was buying an LA Lady and comparing them. I guess I was unsure whether my Ultrawave sounds were actually any good and felt down about them given my frustrations with the pedal.

While the LA Lady is a great pedal, the Ultrawave just plain sounds better (to me). It's a deeper and thicker sound, and my octave sounds aren't as messy (by design) as the LA Lady. I also bought and returned a Way Huge Purple Platypus that I hated for how messy it was too. I'm going to keep the LA Lady as a reference as I continue to build Ultrawave patches. I feel a lot more confident with the Ultrawave now.

My next step is to really dig into the Saturnworks pedal I had built and the Disaster Area DMC Micro and get to programming patches. I'm excited about the Ultrawave now where before I was very intimidated by it. And that's a huge step for me.

@HelpImaRock It is a deep pedal and certainly has granular control over distortion sounds, I still love the Aftershock as to me it is more intuitive especially for designing guitar-ish tones.

I love the LA Lady with my Fender Rumble 40 at home, but the Ultrawave blew it away through my Mesa/GK rig in rehearsal. There's definitely value in both and even if I end up using the LA Lady as a clean parametric EQ, it'd still be worth it.

Sometimes I feel it’s just way too deep, but it’s such a great pedal. Lately I’ve been using it in cascade mode. One compressor feeding another compressor with some hi and lo cuts. Sort of how some like to feed a cali1176 into a la2a type of compressors. Going into a hx stomp that covers all the dirt.
I can also easily use that UW preset as a stand alone clean preamp.

I still have my Aftershock. With my rock cover band I use both, Aftershock and Ultrawave for dirty sounds. And then I have UW patches with a carefully dialled in mid scoop/bass and treble boost for the occasional slap sound, and a nice morphable (frequency) HPF, for very subby synth bass sounds so now it doesn't get too crazy. And for my Latin/cumbia band I use the UW with two different compressors, one pretty mild one and one extremely squishy one with more makeup gain and rolled off treble for when I exclusively play hammer ons while playing melodica with my right hand.
The mileage with these two pedals (la lady is basically Aftershock) is astounding.

So, ah, we need a video of this melodica bass salsa concoction within the week.

ok, @Gibs210 I finally got screenshots for you. Thanks for your help figuring out this non-standard pedal.
