Source Audio UltraWave ~ Catch the Wave

My Saturnworks switcher arrived today with latching switch, LED, and a polarity switch.

@_Tay_ What settings do you have it controlling and how did you set it up? I have the Control Input Option set as Tap Tempo. At first, the small green LED at the top of the Ultra Wave went bonkers. Then I unplugged the pedal and turned it back on again, and I can't get it to change the morph or balance. I'm pretty sure I'm the problem. Thoughts?

I have the Control Input Option set as Tap Tempo. Then on the 'External Control' section i have it set to 'Control Input X - Expression'.

When the LED went bonkers, did your Saturnworks work then? Can you get the pedal to work other parameters other than morph or balance?

Is it something to do with the polarity switch?? My switch isn't powered.

My footswitch from Saturnworks is exactly the same as the Source Audio Tap Tempo switch but with just the latching footswitch instead of momentary and works completely fine.

If your not using the switch for tap tempo, then it needs to remain in expression mode, you then map out your on/off states in expression, turn on expression and set to x axis for source.

Ok, I did this and assigned it to the balance knob. The balance knob doesn't move when set to x axis. When set to y axis, the balance knob goes crazy. Thoughts?

How is the switch wired? It needs to be wired like an expression pedal, but with the tip and ring flipped from what most expression pedals are wired for.

Can you take a picture of the expression settings in the app, as well as the global options settings for the ultrawave?

I'll get it together this weekend. Thanks!

In the meantime, I'm pretty happy with how the Ultra Wave is dialed in. Our gig this weekend was good and I just got back from rehearsal with an amp I'd never played through before and it sounded great. So it's coming together. Just need to get the controller stuff right.

Sorry, I’m new to the Source Audio world, and I have SO MANY questions, lol. So, sorry about that.
Are there any advantages to running an Ultrawave and an Aftershock together? I have both in the mail en route, but now I’m wondering if I should only have gotten one or the other. Also, could a DMC micro pro control both simultaneously, or can it only control one at a time?
If you use a micro pro, do you still need the neuro hub?
Would a soleman be a better solution to running multiple pedals simultaneously?
lol, sorry, and thanks in advance!

The hub with Soleman still remains the best call. In fact, even if you are not a Midi user (like me), it's pretty easy to setup presets with multiple SA devices without any Midi prog. It's even more a killer when it comes to Midi clock stuff, you definitely want something to process the synchro within one single interface. Regarding your UW vs AS battle, I run them both and didn't regret it since day 1. Chain the AS first, so that you can play with UW playroom tools (compression, tremolo, eq, noise gate, adding another disto, mess with ring modulator...) for like a decade. I went from scratch 2 years ago, and just following this forum advices saved me weeks if not months. The most important question you would have to ask to yourself would be :
"Do I really want to become a SA Sorcerer and commit to SA devices (8 of them IMO : expression, hub, soleman, UW, C4 and the 3 others you like most, Collider, AS & Mercury for me) OR do I prefer to use 1 or 2 of them at a maximum ?"

Sorry if this has already been asked and answered: has anyone had issues when using the knobs on the UW where a minimal CW turn of gain knob spikes the distortion to what seems like max level? This doesn't happen with every patch, and when I switch to another patch, it reverts to a "normal" level. It seems to only happen with patches where distortion is the main flavor.

Secondary question: As I toggle from one patch to another, occasionally it seems like wherever the knobs are turned to from the previous patch, once I use them in any way in the new patch, they act like they were set to full CCW and have a momentary lag to figure out where they are in their range. Again, I think this is most prevalent in patches where there's significant distortion.

Sorry for my clunky description. Not only is the UW hard to master, it's hard to describe when things go sideways!

Could the volume spikes be something to do with the expression values set? Maybe if the patch has expression 'On' try switching it off. Apart from that no i can't think what could be wrong here.
