Source Audio UltraWave ~ Catch the Wave

Heads up SA fans, there might be a scam connected to the Ultrawave Giveaway from September 2023. Please don't give up your CC# or info until this is confirmed here by @rsmith601.
I have sent info to SA about this suspected phishing scam.
THIS IS A SCAM!! SA would never take a credit card with a give away!!! Thanks, @bassbrad

Months later, the Ultra Wave is on the board. I'm only using two presets. One is Basic Distortion and the other is Absolute Octave. If the one song I might need morph for actually makes it into our set, I'll have Saturnworks make the latching TRRS switch I talked about a few months ago.

The DMC Micro will probably end up on my guitar board, scrolling presets on my Pitchfactor. I would need a personal tutorial to get it to do what I want with the Ultra Wave.

The Saturnworks footswitch won't work with the Ultrawave. I've gone down that route already as I was after doing something similar. I wanted a latching footswitch to kick distortion on/off my Ultrawave compression patch.

Don’t know if the hx one has command center like the hx stomp, but if… you could add the sa midi cable an aux switcher for the hx one and possibly change things on the uw that way?

HX One only has a Librarian app. It's also got midi issues thru that Line 6 needs to fix before I start with it. So it's a good idea, I just don't know how to do it.

The third option is using the multijack on the DMC Micro with a footswitch that can control the morph. But I have no idea how to program that.

I just found this. Seems like what HelpmaRock is referring to and should work?

Wow so they do one now. Awesome!

One of the 2 in stock currently heading my way. I'll let you know when it gets to UK what it is like. Also seeing if they can make it latching. If not, I'll have a bash at making it latching instead of momentary.

Brought the Ultra Wave to rehearsal tonight, along with my computer. The results:

1. Offset Clip - I've basically created a bass SD-1. Single band distortion, a slight mid boost at 1k, and a healthy clean mix. I saw in another thread that people were having a difficult time dialing in a light dirty boost. This is it.
2. Absolute Value - This is my heavy octave distortion. I split it up with the bass 10 band and turned off the lowest range, and the 2 highest ranges. That seemed to be it.
3. Octave Fold - I still need to dial this in. I'll set up the Multiwave and try to make the response as close as possible.

I'm not doing anything groundbreaking here. I'd say I'm using the pedal for it's most basic functions. But you gotta start somewhere.

Cool will try Absolute Value with the 10 band like you do today

Just had a quick blast before i gotta go out and they are super easy to dial in and sound decent. I feel simplicity is the key with the Ultrawave for the most part when it comes to great OD/distorted bass sounds.

One thing to note is that I dialed these in at home and then completely reconfigured them with the band, earplugs and all. So they will need some tweaking. But these are good starting points and I'm happy with the progress I made. And yes, simplicity is best. The Ultra Wave does so many crazy things so I'm trying to understand each section on its own before combining them.

Sometimes I wish we did not include all the morphing and multiband-trem, but Bob insisted. I suppose this is a purchase that can be explore for more than one lifetime!

To be fair, every piece of gear, no matter how simple, goes through this. You get a great sound at home and then bring it to the band and it sounds like mush. It takes a while to dial everything in.

With the Ultra Wave, you really do have to commit to it. I'm using it to break the dirt pedal GAS cycle. But that also means I have to learn how stuff works and how pedals get designed in the first place. I started this thread to talk about it, but I haven't gotten much response. I also started one on TGP.

It's a brilliant pedal. No regrets. :)

Yeah +1 for all UW's extra bits. It's all helping me understand sound shaping better (or trying to!).

As @HelpImaRock says, I would just go aimlessly from 1 bass distortion pedal to another, trying to decipher which is best for my needs. Something would always appear that bit tastier, depending on the demo etc

And then over last year, with a new band vibe (more dance/funk/dub), I had less 'obvious' needs for distortion. This is when I really appreciated the UW. Combining (small) amounts of fuzz/OD with C4 subs/env/synth sounds has been mind blowing. Plus utilising the EQ, comp, boost features means not having to go shopping down that other rabbit hole....
