Source Audio UltraWave ~ Catch the Wave

New laptop arrived and much funn has been had while TB was on hiatus. Lot of time to explore the Ultraave , other folk's wonderful creations, tweak a few for myself and make a few of my own sounz.

I shared my take on the Fuzzrocious BDPG so far and have a few more in the works.

I have been having lots of fun running the Ultrawave into the C4 and also my other filter pedals especially the Mooer Sweeper and my modded EHX NYC BassBalls as well as the Digitech BSW. I am tempted to try it into my EHX NYC BMS 24v and see what that ADSR filter section will bring to the game. Maybe even some of my other filters in cold storage.

Still spending time exploring the depths of the possibilities of this new tool. Spent a day with a studio engineer nerd cooking up settings for recording tones using the compression, EQ, Gates with interesting results.

I hope Zach R will be doing one of his deepest lives on this pedal soon. Hint hint. @rsmith601
In process!! :)

Simple question, are both versions the same?

Like the LA Lady, Aftershock and Kingmaker are essentially the same thing once you start putting your presets in. I bought the Kingmaker because I like the look of the purple better than the other two.

Is this the same with the Ultrawave and Ultrawave Bass, I like the look of the blue better than the green so if they are the same that's what I'll get.

Inside they are identical and run the same version of Neuro - there is a slight difference in the default settings of the knobs and factory presets between the Blue and Green Bass version - but all that can be changed to your preferences anyway.

Help-ultrawave newbie question-any help appreciated:

I have had no trouble making my own presets, downloading community presets to my library etc. However, after a period of experimentation, I have settled on the 6 presets I want to save to the pedal and which positions I want them located in (I will not be using MIDI to access more on the fly). The problem I am having is that once all 6 preset positions are filled, I cannot change them.......I am obviously having a brain cramp.......when in Neuro, with the pedal connected and the preset position that I want to change selected on the pedal, if I click on preset from my library on the laptop, the pedal reverts to the position the preset is already in, so that I cannot change where the preset is located on the pedal. If I want to replace an existing pedal preset with a completely new one from my library, it doesn't save on the pedal. Do I have to erase the presets on the pedal to start the process over? I cannot find any answers on line. Apologies in advance as I feel certain I am having a "my lost shades are on my forehead" moment :-)

1) Create Preset
2) Save preset to your library
3) Burn the preset to the pedal (the flame icon)

There may be other ways, but this is how I would do it. Saving a copy in your library (cloud!!) is always a good idea.

That's how I initially filled the 6 presets, but using it to make further changes isn't working for me. With the pedal connected via USB and while in Neuro, if I click the flame icon on a a preset in my library, it is not replacing what's already loaded in the pedal's current setting. As soon as I switch out of and back to the same pedal position, the previous preset remains. I am still suspecting this is user error, but am at loss to see the error :-(

I am not sure I’m completely understanding your issue, but there is a “Save As” button that will let you choose which slot to save in.

Yes and when I "save as" and rename, the preset appears on the list in my device, but I am unable to get it from that list into 1 of the 6 presets in the pedal that doesn't require MIDI control.

If your clicking save as, then you need to select one of the first 6 presets to save to the toggle switch positions.

1K thank yooz. As I thought, it was a "my lost shades are up on my forehead" brain cramp. All good now. What a magnificent piece of engineering this little box is! It can sub for my 2 "always on" pedals (comp and hpf), and the 3 others I use just often enough to enjoy having them always available (something along the lines of chorus/ tremolo, something to add little hair, and something funky in an envelope sort of way).

Was something wrong with my list above? I thought for sure that would do it?

I had simply (and vacuously) failed to notice that the 1st 6 lines of the library list are specifically labelled/designated to the 6 onboard presets/ shape icons. I thought that whatever position the pedal was currently set to would dictate where the patch would be saved.

Finally got the Ultrawave mounted on the F16 going to take some real planning before I tackle a full rebuild to tighten and tidy things up but this will work for now.

Anyone have a quick and dirty explanation of the difference between this and the c4?
The C4 is a modular synth pedal. It has oscillators, filters and lots of other resources to create classic and new synth sounds.
The Ultrawave is a multi-band distortion, tremolo, and compressor pedal. It has band splitting and lots of exotic distortion curves, tremolo, and a variety of other blocks to create a wide range of relatively new sounds.

There is some overlap between the 2 pedals in terms of the sounds they can create, but it is more like 5% overlap only.
Watching these 2 videos from Nathan Navarro should help!
