Source Audio UltraWave ~ Catch the Wave

The problem is that most of times on stage you want the compressor always on so that means you can’t use the UW for other things then. So you might want a separate compressor pedal. Or you have to buy two UWs.
The UW has dual engines, inputs and outputs so yes you can indeed do two things at once.
That is true for most SA pedals. That is an all too often overlooked bonus feature.

Ok thanks. Never used that on my Spectrum. Not sure how that would work. Say you want the compressor always on. Then you have to program the compressor on output 1 for all 6 presets on the pedal and program another effect on output 2? And then you use one cable to input 1 and two cables on the outputs? But then you have another pedal with two inputs after that or use two amps. Not sure how practical that will be.

There are several options for using the dual.engines; in series, paralell or separately. There are routing controls in Neuro for the ins and outs, it only really gets complicated if you want other effects in between the two engines.

Since you probably will want the compressor and fuzz early in your effect chain I think this will be fairly complicated to manage on stage if you want a different effect from the UW on both outputs.

Nope the designers are brilliant and thoughtful that is possible too. Check pages 15-18 of the manual, sometimes you gotta hit the books.

I'm finally properly looking at demos, and the default presets are very attractive. Has anyone posted synth samples yet (where is Quatschmacher?)?

I have zero interest in the EQ, compressor, or normal distortion sounds, but my gut tells me this will serve all of my (simple) synth needs sidestepping the pain of tracking. I love my two C4s when recording, but I'm never confident with them live, I'd be perfectly happy relegating them to full-time filter / octaver duty on the board.

There's a huge difference between hearing videos / youtubes / soundbites and actually getting the Neuro interface and pedal in your hands and working out how it all works and hangs together. With the multiwave / foldback options it's very easy to create wild synth distortions. However, the compressor is excellent and the 1-band (no Split) option is great for re-creating classic and simple Overdrive and Fuzzes. I'm about to post on the Neuro cloud a Gated Muff that is pretty much identical to a patch on my Aftershock. It's quite possible that this single pedal could become the only dirt on my board.

My apologies, as much as I have gone though the SASS thread, and this thread I did not see or missed discussion about this. I looked at the routing options on the website. Can I also run it like a loop pedal? Like a boss LS2? My bass signal into Input1/out1, and my effects looped in in2/out2 like a send return? I have a couple of SA Pedals and regular stomps. It would be great to have the stomps on a loop switch controlled by midi to Ultrawave plus have the sounds of the Ultrawave available.

I wrote up a response saying the Ultrawave could do this, but I got it confused with the EQ2 routing, woops! So I deleted it, so sorry if you read my post before I removed it.

Fun video, those guys are always entertaining. I have been neglecting my F16 and all my SA boards recently, other pedals and dreaded politics.

After neglecting to explore this amazing beast's darker side for the last few months, I decided to specifically go for some dark tones this weekend, and ended up with 2 songs, 2 UW presets and a greatly altered one, an acoustic guitar-geared MuTron preset for the Spectrum. For the UW presets, I went exploring the tremolo as well. For one track, it makes the sound seem like a bowed instrument, which I want to save a copy to then tweak and hopefully slow down that motion for a slow bowed sound, because it seemed like I inadvertently got a cello like sound. That would be cool to mess about with.

For this one, the UW provides an evil sound that bounces across the stereo field. And for the main bass tracks, I decided to keep those "clean" with EQ2, compression via UW, its primary function, and a touch of room reverb. Also, I specifically set out to make crazy sounds and avoid using the C4.

I'll try to get those presets uploaded, along with some others I've been making. Not too many on the UW lately, but other SA pedals. I have yet to upload a thick bass compressor sound and a nice light acoustic guitar compressor I made some weeks back, same for EQ2 bass and acoustic eqs, basic, but they sound pretty good to my ears. Look forward to more spelunking in the caverns of these digital devices!

I like the cello quality tot he 1st patch. I tend to find that a slow attack / volume swell gives the simulation of a bowed effect. Post it on the cloud when you have the time, I'd like to give that patch a play.

Does the Ultrawave do "regular" fuzz and distortion sounds well? In other words, can I replace my Aftershock with the Ultrave, replicate the few sounds I use on it and also have all the fun "extra" sounds that the UW can do?

I'm out of space on my bass pedalboard, and I'd also like to repurpose the Aftershock as a King Maker/LA Lady on my guitar pedalboard.

I think so, especially if you use it mostly for fuzz and heavy distortion. @GMC said he is working on recreating his Aftershock presets on the Ultrawave. I use his Mastertronic gated fuzz preset and it sounds great.

I feel like the Ultrawave is lacking in the overdrive department, but I haven’t really tried playing with that too much as I’m happy with the Aftershock taking that role.
