South Florida Luthier?????

Kaufman is by far my favorite. I know he's kinda shying away from bass work since he's focusing on live sound. He did the entire neck de-fret and epoxy on my Jaco tribute. I think he's the best, but I had to wait 6 months to get it. It was worth it and means a lot that Jaco's guy did my Jazz bass.

+1 for Kevin. He installed a Sadowsky preamp in a Fender Jazz for me. And I started talking to him about doing a epoxy job on my Musicman Sterling fretless.

Really nice guy to deal with.

Well, I'm grabbing my bass back from Guitar Hospital on Friday. All he gave me was excuses about why it was taking so long.

I've used a guy, Mitchell Weissman. Great guy for setups, but I'm unsure if I'd use him for a re-fret.

Is Kaufman still swamped?

I don't want to wait another 6 months.

My amp guy advised me that Jimmy Hamiltone is great.

Your thoughts?

I use Alpha Kinetix in Pompano for my amp needs. Gary, the owner is insanely knowledgeable about amps.

He is very talkative, and isn't a fan of Chinese products. (Just giving a headsup)

My Eden was having issues, he re-soldered various points on the PCB, and replaced the factory preamp tube. He had it done in a week, and it sounds fantastic.

I know this is a very old thread, but as long as I'm here...I found this lutheir in West Palm beach who not only took a new bass the same day, but incredibly finished CREATING and mounting the soundpost... the same day. AND it was Saturday. hats off to a true artisan (he handcrafts violins) Tambovsky Strings. His name is Nicolai Tambovsky. Superknowledgable.this is for uprights though.,..

Currently, I use Amp Shop in WPB for my amps. They are decent, and my stuff has no issues after they work on it.

I used to use Alpha Kenetix in Pompano. He does good work too, but I felt like he overdiagnoses.

I had my Aria Pro re-fretted by a guy named Jimmy Hammiltone, who is associated with Alpha Kinetix. I was pretty amazed by what I got back. Probably the best I've seen.

Reviving an old thread - any recommended luthiers to work on an electric upright bass in south Florida? (Ampeg Baby Bass).

I have reached out to Kevin multiple times and he either doesn't have the time or is not interested - he always says "I'll let you know", weeks pass by and I never hear back from him. I personally don't care if he can walk on water, I'm not a fan of this kind of behavior as I'm not asking for any favors and it's a service I would be paying for.

Staying tuned for recommendations. Thank you folks! :)

See if Jimmy Hamiltone is still at Alpha Kinetix in Pompano. His work was outstanding

I just called them, thank you. Gentleman by the name of Gerry answered and said that Jimmy is his friend and that Jimmy focuses mainly on builds (necks, etc.) at the moment and that he (Gerry) specializes on basses, particularly like the one I have; he even said he owns one in pristine condition. Ever heard of Gerry? He was nice and eager to help, and mentioned that they have been working on vintage instruments for 42 years.

You might mean Gary.
