I think all effects sound great on the 'knife. Usable. If you have a particular sound in mind you wouldn't buy a pedal like the utility knife in the first place - you would buy the pedal that best creates that one sound.

Ictineo. Picked one up new, back when they were all the rage on TB. Used it occasionally in my chain, as an eq/tone shaping device. Sometimes I loved it, sometimes I was befuddled, seemed to overwhelm things downstream.
In recent years I’ve been running FRFR PA speakers for my bass rig, paired with a variety of preamps. So glad I thought to try the Ictineo in this role. It not only sounds amazing and widely variable, but somehow makes more sense. Getting off my board and parking it on top of my powered speaker has elevated my understanding and appreciation of this device.
