Sovtek mig100b ?

I remember playing the Bassov rig at NAMM the year it came out. It was the 100w head and 2x15 cabinet. It was the only thing I really, REALLY left the NAMM show wanting, but unfortunately I was never able to get one. Really cool amp.

Never mind...the guy wants $600 for the head.

I originally posted an ad in my local craigslist looking for a SVT or comparible tube head. I think I'll keep looking for my SVT.

Thanks for the help/replies.

I have a mig 100H (the high gain guitar version) and it sounds great for bass if I use the low gain input and a bass cab.

When I first got the amp, I brought the schematic of the 100B and the 100 H to a tech and asked him to check over the amp and about possibly modifying it to the 100B version. He said they where so similar (when using the low gain input on the 100H) that I probably wouldn't be able to tell the difference.

$600?? It's a good head, but not that good IME.

IIRC I had mine about 5 years ago, bought it (legitimely I must add) for 100€ and after six months or so sold it in an on-line auction for 280€. They were going in the $350 range in e-bay ATM and for about $450 in stores. IIRC obviously ;). The exchange rate was about 1.20 in our favour back then and the recession was nowhere to be seen, IIRC again.

Unless it's equipped with some expensive NOS tubes, he's asking way too much IMHO.

Regards
Sam

I've has a mig 50 for 10 years , it is bullet proof and I used for bass as well as guitar. Tony Bruno did the work on them before he had his own line , basically a old bassman with higher plate voltage.

It knocks the socks off my Acoustic B200H ( not hard to do admittedly)

I've been playing my 100B for about 3 years and love it. The things I'd mention are that the tone stack isn't very responsive, and that, yes, it's wicked heavy. Here's a pic:

I agree $600+ is pretty steep. I paid $420 for mine, but I have seen the prices going a bit higher in the last year or so.

With Peavey Vb-2's going for waaay less than $600, and Traynors in that same ballpark, I personally would pass unless you've played the Sovtek and are all freaky enamoured of it.

ymmv; etc.
