No- I would not criticize those who are brilliant and have dedicated their lives to achieving their dreams in aerospace, whether as engineers, astronauts or technical manufacturers, etcNo, at least not in the US Space Program, especially where NASA is in control of the launch system.
Yes and no. It does cost money, but, there's also just risk/reward, and a lot of problems we don't have the technology (often material technology, followed very closely by power) to solve. Can't throw money at that and just have it go away, much as many of us wish that were the case.
There isn't a lack of vision, not with the people actually working in the industry.
Lack of vision from those who have written the checks- until most recently- politicians.
