SpaceX and other space stuff

29 Aug 2022, 8 days away, is launch date for NASA's Artemis 1, which will be the Orion spacecraft and the Space Launch System (SLS) rocket. Orion capsule won't be manned, this flight is for testing purposes. But what a 'test' it's gonna be!

From the press kit:
  • Launch site: Launch Pad 39B at NASA’s Kennedy Space Center in Florida
  • Launch date: Aug. 29, 2022
  • Launch window: 8:33 a.m. EDT to 10:33 a.m.
  • Mission Duration: 42 days, 3 hours, 20 minutes
  • Destination: distant retrograde orbit around the Moon
  • Total mission miles: approximately 1.3 million miles (2.1 million kilometers)
  • Targeted splashdown site: Pacific Ocean, off the coast of San Diego
  • Return speed: Up to 25,000 mph (40,000 kph)
  • Splashdown: Oct. 10, 2022

The lowest note, the one identified back in 2003, is a B-flat, just over 57 octaves below middle C; at that pitch, its frequency is 10 million years. The lowest note detectable by humans has a frequency of one-twentieth of a second.

...so that we can hear the sounds in all directions from the supermassive black hole at pitches 144 quadrillion and 288 quadrillion times higher than their original frequency.

So, the diameter of an open B-flat string would be? Anyone?? I'm thinkin' maybe the diameter of our solar system, but I got no numbers to back that up...

I think a normal .135 would do (though that's in light-years lol).
 
7:04am. Watching propellant loading of NASA's Space Launch System (SLS).

Engineers studying two possible issues. One of the 4 main engines isn't quite reaching it's pre-conditioning temperature. The other issue is a possible crack in a cryogenic fuel storage tank as evidenced by a line of frost on the outer insulation layer.

Propellant loading is continuing while they look at the issues.

NASA livestream. There is audio, but rather quiet at the moment.
