I think Mars must have been pretty close last time around also because it didn't look SO BIG to me. Big and bright but too cold to stand around gawping at it for too long.
I need to remember to go outside and look at Mars sometime this week. We're having some rare clear nights around here.

With that kind of performance, the Russians should look into NASCAR or Formula One.

They are in F1. Daniil Kvyat, a Russian, drives for Alpha Tauri. The race at Sochi (where the Winter Olympics were held a few years ago) was run in September. No involvement in NASCAR... yet.

Bob and Doug looked a little discombobulated after their two month trip. I'll be curious to see how Chris responds to gravity and fresh air after being in space for six months. That, and being able to smell and taste normally again.

A major milestone for space exploration in the USA will be reached on Tuesday. A journey four years in the making:
NASA will ‘fist bump’ an asteroid to reveal the Solar System's secrets.
I learned about this watching the NASA Roku channel in the days following when Bob and Doug took off for the ISS. I spent a few hours reading and watching. Then I checked up on what Japan has been doing in this regard through their space program, JAXA.
More then a few times, what I read and watched went way over my head, but it was so cool and intriguing, I stuck with it.
I have only a few hours of my time invested here and I'm totally stoked. I can only imagine the excitement and anticipation for those involved from the start of this mission.

Peristaltic movement controls the flow of foodstuffs down the ol' alimentary canal. It's controlled by the autonomic nervous system. Hmmm... that was a mouthful.
that's how I remembered it but long term space travel is a bit new, as is space potty humour.
Actually, space potty humor dates back to 1961 when Alan Shepard had to pee in his suit. First American to go into space, and the first American who HAD TO GO into space.
