speaker cables

Link Removed

Low freq is effected by cable length and gauge more than High Freq also.
12 guage short cables are best.
with PA systems the difference from a 400w amp using a 50' 16 or 18 guage cable vs.
a 12 guage can be somewhere around 50 to 80 watts lost in the cables resistance.

A 50 foot 18 ga. cable has 0.65 ohms DCR. With an 8 ohm speaker and 400 watts output the 18 ga cable will consume about 30 watts. And that's why you don't use 18 ga. 50 footers. :scowl:
But the DCR of a six foot 18 ga. cable is only 0.08 ohms, so with an 8 ohm load and a 400 watt signal the cable will only consume 1 watt. A six foot 14 ga. cable is .03 ohms, so it eats less than half a watt. A 12 ga cable will eat even less, but you can't hear less than a 5% insertion loss, so it's moot.
