Speaker mounting

Hi - I have a trace elliot 1x15" bass enclosure and I need to change the driver. I have picked up an Eminence kappa driver that looks like it will do the job nicely. However, the current driver is simply screwed directly onto the baffle - I'd like to use the proper mounting lugs (if that is the right term), but cannot find anywhere to source them.

Can anyone help with either the correct terminolgy and/or where I might be able to get them from?

Also - should I be using some kind of seal around the diameter of the driver? Would a household silicant sealing be suitable?

screwed directly into the baffle IS the correct way to install them. should have a bolt and a washer. that's all you need.

and speakers have gaskets built onto them so you don't need anything else to seal it. just put it on snug. but don't overtighten.

And watch out you don't put your screwdriver or drill through the speaker surround. It's easier to do than you'd think, and yes, I've done it.

It sounds like they used wood screws to mount the driver. It's probably not worth drilling for T-nuts or other mounting devices. Just don't strip the screws when you tighten the driver.

Recex screws are my favorite for mounting neo drivers. For mounting heavier drivers I'd use machine screws and hurricane or T-nuts.

I agree with RP, I don't like wood screws either. As this is a "labour of love", I'd still go with #10x32 hardware anyway.
