speakers ohms

I recently put an Eminence Delta 15 LFA into my single 15 ported cab and it sounds great. I have an old Peavey 2 x 10 cabinet that has 2 replaced Eminence speakers (67 code) that look remarkably like Kappa Pro-10's and may be rated at 500 watts each. (cast metal frames as opposed to pressed metal) Hard to know what wattage they really are.

I have a Behringer Ultrabass 450 (which sounds and performs great) The minimum load is 4 ohms. The 15" speaker is 8 ohms and the 2 10's are 8 ohms.

If I wire the 10's in series making them a 16 ohm load, am I correct in figuring on a load around 5.6 ohms total to the amp including the tens and the 15?

Just out of curiosity, why would you want to do this? Both cabs together would make a 4 ohm load with each cab basically getting half the power. If you make one cab 16 ohms and the other 8, the 16ohm cab is going to get less power (about half as much, actually) as the other cab.

Because there is no way you can turn a cab with two 8 ohm drivers into an 8 ohm cab. 4 or 16 ohms are the only viable alternatives, unless you get an impedance matching transformer.

Sorry, I should have made that info clear, the 2 x 10 is a 4 ohm cab, but the speakers are 8 ohms each.

I was just thinking if I had them anyway, I'd like to run them together to see what they sound like.

The single 15 sounds great by itself. The cab was made by a now extinct company from British Columbia in the 70's and 80's called "Sound Source" Nicely built, solid with 2 looks like 4" tunnel ports.

I have a question, and rather than start a new thread (I've also read some of the ohms FAQ but I can't seem to find an answer I'm looking for) I'll just ask here.

With my LMII I'm running an 8 ohm cab (std 410hr). Can I run another 8 ohm cab from the head and not put any of my gear in danger? Say a 15" cab for example?

same principle... you can run both cabs in parallel to give you 4ohm BUT only applicable if your head can handle 4ohm.

In that case sure you can rewire your 2x10" to 16 ohm and hook it up in parallel with the 8 ohm 15" to make a load of 5.3 ohms.

It just probably won't sound that much better than just the 15".
