Speakon cable confusion

Was wondering which type of speakon cable I will need for a tc electronic bh250head??? I have checked the manual and back of the head but no specific info is posted, other than "neutrik speakon cable"...i have used the search function and have found ample info about guage thickness, and connector types which served to enhance my idiocy...do i need 12, 14, or 16 guage and a 2 or 4 pronged connector???...so much for 1/4" jacks...hahaha

Yep, I noticed that too!
Pretty much any store bought cable with Neutrik Speakon connectors will work. The longer the cable length, the thicker the cable. 16 or 14 AWG should work well for most bass amp applications. I recommend you purchase cable with genuine Neutrik brand connectors, NL-2, or NL-4 should work fine. Knockoffs will tend to screw up the connectors on your gear.

That's just the doubt I'm having too. My TC BH250 will probably arrive by the end of next week and I was in doubt if a speakon 4 point connector would be necessary. Considering the other connector must be a 1/4 jack, there's no point using the 4 points of the speakon connector. So, a 2 speakon is gonna make it

An NL2 end will not fit in your head, only an NL4 end will fit, you can just get by only connecting 2 of the 4 conductors inside an NL4 cable. (+1,-1)

I don't know about your head, but my Markbass head doesn't include 1/4" jacks, it has 2 speakon jacks only.

Nope, an NL-2 cable end will work just fine into an NL-4 panel connector. The other way around will not though, but you hardly ever see NL-2 panel connectors.

There is no need at all for a 4 wire cable if you're only going to use two conductors.

Son of a biscuit they will. I feel like an idiot, I bought an NL2FC cable some time ago and (I thought) it didn't fit my amp, apparently I just didn't spin it around... kind of funny in retrospect.

The NL2 cable end acts a little differently on engagement, so that's an understandable mistake. I have come to prefer that end myself though, as for me at least it's easier to remove from the back of an amp without looking.
